Photos & Videos: Fire Safety Awareness Week
The Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service [BFRS] launched their Fire Safety Awareness Week today [Nov 2], with this year’s theme “Hear the Beep Where You Sleep!”
For today’s occasion, the Premier and Minister of National Security Michael Dunkley read a Proclamation commemorating this week and spoke to school children who attended today’s events at the Fire Service’s headquarters on King Street.

An excerpt from the Premier’s observance read, “Public safety is a top priority in Bermuda and safety from fire is important to our citizens and to local firefighters who put their lives on the line with every response to fire.
“Residents of Bermuda are encouraged to take action to prevent fires and to protect themselves when fire strikes.”
“Public awareness of simple fire safety practices such as having a home fire escape plan, installing and maintaining smoke alarms through our homes and buildings and regular fire safety drills can help to reduce the risk of death and injury,” the Ministry said.
“So today, Bermuda joins with the National Fire Protection Association as Fire Safety Awareness Week is observed across North America and the United Kingdom.”
Fire Safety Awareness Week will be held through November 6, and for the remainder of the week, the BFRS will be hosting a series of events for the public aimed at raising awareness about fire safety.
