In the first in a series of profiles of the young men competing in this year’s Alpha Beautillion, we spotlight Berkeley Institute student Enrico Manuel Escolastica.

His profile, courtesy of the Alphas, says: “Enrico Manuel Escolastica was born February 13th, 1998 on his island home, Bermuda. He is the youngest child of three children born to Terry-Lee and Joe Escolastica.

“He attended Port Royal Primary, followed by Sandys Secondary Middle School and is now attending his soon to be Alma Mater, The Berkeley Institute.

“Growing up he was not all self-made leader surviving a lot of his struggles with the help of his mother. Being naturally athletic and curious he attempted every sport he could from rugby to netball, saying that he could master any sport with motivation and his obsession for challenge.

“Always striving to be a leader, Enrico was the Deputy Head Boy at both primary and middle school, and also Green House Vice Captain and prefect in high school.

“What really showed him leadership and teamwork was his experience on the rugby field through the Beyond Rugby program at his school. This program showed him that your team is not just a team; “it’s a family”.

“Whilst attending Berkeley, Enrico started to explore the music learning closely from his sister who was a singer. For the past four years Enrico has been playing what he calls the instrument of golden sound, the alto saxophone.

“Additionally, his love for playing music led him to invest in creating it through a software program on his laptop. Initially, he did not enjoy it, but his love for a challenge that caused him to persevere.

“This led to an opportunity to intern and gain first hand experience in the field, and lifestyle of the music industry, through the developing artist program, a program that would change his life forever.

“Enrico has travelled overseas to Atlanta with a few other talented youths and was exposed to the industry, meeting influential artists and working in a high-end studio.

“Enrico intends on following his passion to become a music producer and to have people hear his heart through his music, something he truly cannot live without. “Every young man needs an education and understanding” he always says when he is asked why he chose to study Business Management when he attends university.

“Enrico believes that this will provide him the foundation to support his dream, whilst leveraging the guidance of mentors that encourage him to strive for his goals.

“The Alpha Beautillon has shown Enrico that he is part of the generation of leaders and future of Bermuda and that we must not forget the leaders who paved the path to success for us. He believes that through love and passion he may achieve the greatest goal in life he believes can be achieved, happiness.”
