Music, Food & More At Pembroke Celebration
Team Street Safe and community partners Evening Light Pentecostal Church and One Stop Shop Variety Store hosted the Pembroke Community Celebration on June 24 at Evening Light Pentecostal Church, with the event’s activities including food, DJ Brotha Ritchie, ping pong, games, and more.
Approximately 200 people came out to have fun and enjoy the festivities, with Minister Jeff Baron also in attendance.
A spokesperson said, “The goal was to celebrate the strength of the community and encourage a sense of community pride and cohesiveness. There were counsellors on site to support residents to deal with difficult feelings and offer referrals for support as needed.
“One Stop shop celebrated their grand re-opening and ribbon cutting, and gave away great prizes.”
Team Street Safe Community Outreach Worker and event coordinator Gina Spence said, “We have received great feedback from the community. In fact they are already asking when is the next event.
“Watching the children play and have fun and the interaction between the adults was really wonderful! Our community deserve to celebrate all the good things that are happening, like the re-opening of the One Stop Variety store and restaurant family business. We wish them great success.
“They also deserve to enjoy each other. I believe we accomplished our goal to celebrate the strength of the community and to encourage a sense of community pride and cohesiveness during some really difficult times.
“We want to thank our community partners and all of the helping agencies who partnered with us Bermuda Coalition, Mirrows,Bermuda Police Action Team and Evening Light Pentecostal Youth Minister Shayne Scott and the congregation.”
