Weekend Traffic Advisory: Botanical Gardens
The Department of Parks advised that due to the Partner-Re 5K Run & Walk this weekend, there will be traffic restrictions at the Botanical Gardens.
A spokesperson said, “The Department of Parks would like to inform the general public that due to the Partner-Re 5K Run & Walk vehicular traffic within the Botanical Gardens will be controlled and restricted both days of this weekend.
“On Saturday 30th September 2017 race number collection will be at the Jack King Building between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Traffic flow and parking in and around this building will be controlled by Department of Parks staff and volunteers. Please adhere to any directions you are given in order to avoid congestion and to maintain smooth traffic flow.
“On Sunday 1st October 2017, the day of the 5K Run & Walk, between 7:45 a.m. and approximately 12:00 noon the Botanical Gardens will be closed to all vehicular traffic, except Department and emergency vehicles.
“The closure of the grounds during this period is to accommodate the Junior Race which takes place within the grounds of Botanical Gardens as well as the main event which starts and finishes at Camden on the east side of the grounds.
“There will be staff and volunteers on duty to direct pedestrians and to respond to any queries as needed.
“The cooperation of the general public is greatly appreciated with respect to this major community fundraising event.
“Good luck to all competitors.”
