World Rugby Classic: New Zealand & Italy Win
The second day of the 2017 Bermuda World Rugby Classic saw New Zealand and Italy claim victories.
USA 13 New Zealand 31
The USA Classic Eagles took the lead when Garret Peterson scored a try, and Maximo de Achaval added the conversion, but the Classic All Blacks would get themselves back into the game when Tom Donnelly went over, but with the conversion missed USA held a 7-5 lead.
Rhys Bennet would give New Zealand the lead with a try, and when Willie Walker kicked the conversion the score moved to 12-7. Achaval then kicked a penalty to pull USA within 2 making the score 12-10.
Brad Tauwhare would go over for a try to extend the New Zealand lead to 17-10 and when Walker kicked the conversion it increased the lead to 19-10. Achaval would kick a penalty to get the USA within 6 points with the score 19-13.
Walker would then get a try, which was followed by a Brendon Ward try and Walker conversion.
Italy 31 South Africa 17
Italy used a strong first half performance to defeat the defending World Rugby Classic Champions South Africa 31-17.
Italy jumped out to a 28 – 0 lead in the first half, before South Africa pulled a try back, Italy would get tries from Andrea Barbieri, Ramiro Paz, Juan Sebastian Francesio, while Tonderai Chavhanga scored the lone first half try for South Africa.
In the second half South Africa would outscore Italy 12 – 3, but the hole was too deep to pull out of.
