Hill, who starred in soccer at Alabama A&M University, and followed with a career in local soccer to imitate the legend of older brother Ricky and sister Carla for natural sporting talent, has long been a fixture at the heart of youth development at the Crawl club.
He performed to expert level on the playing pitch with the Hot Peppers as a play-maker and front-line attacking option for many years post college, before transferring to coaching and development.
Citing a need for improved facilities at the Shelly Bay Field to better assist Hamilton Parish Workmen’s Club’s [HPWC] youth and other area community based organisations Hill, who has an Urban/City Planning degree from A&M, made non-acted upon overtures to Government back in 2012 for a purposed, rallying structure at the site.
President of HPYSP, Dr. Ernest Peets, voiced confidence in Hill as the person to aid the forward evolution of the long-standing, patron institution that has consistently aided the development of area youth for decades, as well as providing sociable haven for interaction between those of all ages.
“I am pleased to announce Coach Corey Hill as our newly created post of Technical Director for our Youth Soccer Program,” said Dr. Peets via press release yesterday to alert media to the upcoming official announcement.
“Coach Hill is a proven winner as a player with a decorated career in local and collegiate soccer. Coach Hill is also an experienced Coach, and in addition to his coaching duties for the Hamilton Parish Senior Team, we are excited to have him join as our Technical Director of our youth program.
“Coach Hill has the full support of our Executive Team, Coaches, parents and players. We are looking forward to utilizing his expertise and passion for youth soccer to advance the development of our coaches and players to compete on the highest levels.”
Dr. Peets, also the senior minister of a local church body, is in his first term of office on the Executive Team of Hamilton Parish Youth Soccer Program, having been elected HPYSP President only recently on September 21, 2018.
The club youth program comprises of Pee Wee, Under-Seven, Under-Nine, Under-11, Under-13, and Under-15 age-group programs for which the new Technical Director will be responsible in the development of all football activities, including player and coach development and evaluation.
The organisation has also established ties with David Bascome, former Bermuda international, professional overseas player and current assistant coach of Major Arena League team Baltimore Blast.
“We have also partnered with David Bascome and BPro regarding program development and overseas soccer exchange opportunities for youth wishing to expand their soccer skills,” explained Dr. Peets
