Health Strategy Survey Deadline Extended

January 30, 2020

The Bermuda Health Strategy Public Survey deadline has been extended, and will now conclude on February 6th.

A Government spokesperson said, “Today the Minister of Health the Hon. Kim Wilson JP MP announced an extension to the deadline for the public to complete the Bermuda Health Strategy: Public Survey at www.forum.gov.bm as part of the community consultation to set Bermuda’s vision and strategy for health for 2020 – 2025.

Minister Wilson said, “The survey is being conducted and analysed by KPMG and will now conclude on Thursday February 6, 2020. This is part of a rejuvenation of the Bermuda Health Strategy which also includes stakeholder consultation in the first quarter of 2020.”

“Paper copies of the survey will be available for completion at the following locations: King Edward Memorial Hospital, Ageing and Disability Services [Continental Building, 25 Church Street], and the Health Insurance Department [Sofia House, 48 Church Street].”

The survey was originally due to conclude on January 31, 2020.

The Health Strategy differs from the Bermuda Health Plan [BHP] as the Bermuda Health Strategy 2014 – 2019 is a 5-year strategy to address 14 broad health system goals, of which health financing reform and universal coverage are 2 goals, while the Bermuda Health Plan comes under the “auspices of the broader strategy to address health financing reform.”

Wait a minute! Didn’t the PLP say that they had already consulted the various stakeholders in the healthcare industry? Trouble is these stakeholders don’t recall any consultation.

Now the PLP says they want to consult with the stakeholders in 2020. Who is lying? Somebody is not familiar with the truth. Who is it?

Unfortunately, the public and private sectors are tired and uninterested in filling out surveys and questionnaires. For decades governments under all umbrellas UBP OBA PLP have us fill out surveys and questionnaires. They compile information, create reports, manipulate date and do nothing with it. We all hear and read the threats that we can be prosecuted if we don’t participate but know that you never go after anyone because you won’t. Afraid to exercise your right because it will cost you a vote. We are just tired of you all wasting our time and money. I can’t stop you from wasting money but your not gonna waste any of my time.

It makes no sense and is pointless to be asking the public the highly technical questions that it does – how would we know the answers
That why no one is taking it
