Spirit of Bermuda Rally Ocean Race Underway
The Spirit of Bermuda Rally — the first sports tourism event since the start of Covid-19 — is underway, with vessels racing from the U.S. East Coast to St. George’s.
Open to any offshore yacht by invitation, the Spirit of Bermuda Rally has received the go-ahead from Bermuda’s Government.

“We’re thrilled to support the Spirit of Bermuda Rally, which represents the first sports tourism event to be held as we reopen our economy,” Glenn Jones, Interim CEO of the Bermuda Tourism Authority [BTA] previously said.
“We applaud all the event’s organizers and look forward to the arrival of participating sailors, who will be a familiar, welcome sight again in our harbors and ports.”
Created by the East End Mini Yacht Club, in liaison with Bermuda Sloop Foundation and the non-profit Sailing Yacht Research Foundation [SYRF], the rally sees sailors competing from two locations, Newport, Rhode Island, and Chesapeake Light, Virginia, finishing in St. George’s.
Sailors are expected to reach Bermuda by Friday.
