Car Driver Arrested On Suspicion Of DUI
A car driver was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst impaired after a ”report of a road traffic collision involving a private motorcar and a pedestrian” on Front Street at 2.00am on Saturday.
A police spokesperson said, “Shortly after 2:00 a.m. on Saturday 14th November, Police and Emergency Medical Services attended a report of a road traffic collision involving a private motorcar and a pedestrian, near The Dog House, on Front Street in the City of Hamilton.
“Officers at the scene reported that the pedestrian, a 47-year old male had sustained multiple injuries and was unresponsive, with one leg pinned underneath the vehicle.
“The victim was subsequently attended to at the scene by EMTs and transported via ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment to his injuries.
“Initial enquiries suggest a motorcar was being driven in a westerly direction along Front Street by a 27-year-old male, when the victim stepped off the sidewalk into the path of the vehicle and was struck.
“The driver of the motorcar was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst impaired and later failed a breath test.
“The victim remains warded at KEMH with a fractured pelvis, facial injuries and road rash.
“Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call 211 or the main police number, 295-0011″
