“To encourage engagement, the public is invited to submit their song requests to the Department of Culture’s Facebook and Instagram page.

“Other events being showcased include the rebroadcasting of the Creatives Live! concerts, which were safely held on the steps of City Hall recently featuring Brixx, CuSh Evans, and Pan-some; the virtual Premier’s Concert featuring local artists; and a filmed interview with local artist Gherdai Hassell who discussed her first solo exhibition at the Bermuda National Gallery – I Am Because You Are.

“All of the events will be shown over the next several weeks on CITV and the Department of Culture’s YouTube channel and social media platforms.

Today Dr. Ernest Peets, Minister of Youth, Culture and Sport said, “We recognise that these are anxious and sensitive times. But despite the challenges we face, I have hope for our country, because I believe that as a people we have the resilience to overcome what this pandemic has thrown at us.”

Minister Peets continued, “Our Ministry recognises that at times like this what helps us get through are our connections and bonds as a community. So the Department of Culture has compiled a series of virtual events and activities aimed at celebrating our people, our culture and our talent.

“Joy Barnum’s at home live concert – which I’m looking forward to; the recently held Creatives Live! musical events; and Gherdai Hassell’s discussion about her stunning and impactful solo exhibition should provide some hope and inspiration for our community during an otherwise difficult time.

“Bermuda, ours is a legacy of resilience and determination. And we work best when we support one another. I want to take this opportunity to thank all of our artists for coming together to strengthen, encourage and uplift us.”

“To find out more about Bermuda’s creatives or if artists wish to be featured in the Department’s online catalogue or activities please visit www.creatives.bm or email culture@gov.bm.
