1 New Case, 36 Active, 2 In Hospital, 1 In ICU
The Ministry received 1712 test results and 1 was positive — which was imported — so there are now 36 active cases, of which two people are in the hospital, with one in ICU.
A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Health received 1712 test results since the last update, and one [1] was positive for coronavirus. This gives a test positivity rate of 0.1%. The new case is classified as imported by a resident who arrived on Jet Blue B61731 from New York on 20 May 2021 and tested positive on their day four test.
“Additionally, since the last update, there were seven recoveries and no deaths.
“There are currently 36 active cases, of which;
- 34 are under public health monitoring and;
- Two [2] are in the hospital, with one [1] in intensive care.
“Since March 2020, Bermuda has recorded 2491 total confirmed cases of Covid-19; out of those, 2423 persons have recovered, and sadly, 32 Covid related deaths.
“The source of all cases is as follows:
- 303 are Imported
- 2159 are classified as local transmission of which:
- 1675 are Local transmission with known contact/source and
- 484 are Local transmission with an unknown contact/source
- 29 are Under Investigation

“As investigations proceed, transmission categories may change.
“The seven-day average of our real-time reproduction number is 0.55.
“Bermuda’s current WHO country status remains “Community Transmission”.
“Our Covid news is getting better, and our cases continue to progress in the right direction,” said Minister of Health, Kim Wilson, JP, MP. “However, we still need to increase our community protection on island. There are many opportunities available in our community to get vaccinated.”
“You can get vaccinated at the Bermuda College, which is open Monday to Friday, 9:00 am until 1:00 pm for walk-ins.”
“You can also make an appointment to get vaccinated at Bermuda College between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. However, the Bermuda College is not open for vaccinations on the weekend.”
“The Bermuda Hospitals Board vaccine centre is open daily between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm for anyone with an appointment, and they will be accepting walk-ins this Saturday and Sunday, May 29 and 30.”
“Tomorrow, May 27, the mobile vaccination programme will be at the Sandy’s Secondary Middle School from 4 pm until 7 pm, and, on Saturday, May 29, at the National Sports Centre from 10 am until 2 pm.
“On Saturday, vaccine certificates will be provided to those who do not have internet access. Also, 300 free meals will be given away from the caterer Kenny’s Kitchen thanks to the generous donation of Red Laser Ltd. There will also be other participants, such as the Frontline Foundation and Auto Solutions, that will be joining Bermuda’s objective for community protection and will be giving out gift cards and vouchers to persons that get vaccinated at the National Sports Centre this Saturday, May 29th.”
“For those people who want to hear about the Covid-19 vaccine from a trusted source, we recommend the Close to Home programme as an ideal opportunity to learn more. There are doctors on site to answer any questions that you may have. You don’t need an appointment. You can just show up and roll up your sleeve.”
“There is also a free mini-bus service to take people from their homes to the mobile vaccination sites and back to their homes afterwards. Call 533-5903 between 10.00 am and 1.30 pm if you need a ride to one of the mobile vaccination sites.”
“If you need assistance getting vaccinated or have questions, please contact vaccine@gov.bm or call the hotline 444-2498 and select Option #2. The Vaccine Call Centre is available from 8 am – 4 pm, Monday to Friday and Saturdays from 9 am – 3 pm. The Call Centre is closed on Sundays.
“Indoor dining has opened for licensed restaurants that verify that all patrons have a SafeKey,” added Minister Wilson. “When a patron arrives at a restaurant, the restaurant must scan their Covid-19 SafeKey and check that their photo identification matches the information on the SafeKey. verify.gov.bm will show their initials, the month and day of their date of birth and a green check if the SafeKey is valid.
“Restaurants that do not check the SafeKey and ID of all persons may be subject to closure by the Minister of Health.”

With the events at St Regis taking the spotlight, now is the time for government to say exactly what everyone, and MPs in particular, can do and can’t do. The laws and regulations are a mess as shown by the “optics”. If you are vaccinated do you need a mask and keep social distancing as the St Regis event indicated you don’t. Break a curfew and you are fined, break a quarantine and bring the Island to a 30 day lockdown, cost millions of dollars and cause 19 deaths is no big thing. This is serious, but Burt just laughs and drinks another cocktail.
Burt, this is insane, vaccinations are working, why are we not opening up; sports, bars (at the bar), and why do we have a curfew?
Everyone is losing patience. Time to open up and think of jobs.
Burt obviously thinks unmasked champagne parties with his rich friends are fine. So I don’t see why we should have any restrictions at all at this point, at least if we’re vaccinated. The rest of them can stay huddled in their houses.
