Live Video & Updates: Another Car/Bike Rally

May 16, 2021

[Updating] Another car/bike rally has been scheduled for today [May 16], with the event set to get underway at around 12 noon from the central area.

The first rally — dubbed the ‘Bermuda Freedom Car/Bike Rally’ and held to protest various aspects related to the pandemic — was held on Sunday, May 2nd, with the event seeing over 200 vehicles take part, traveling all over the island for over three hours.

The vaccination is optional and always has been, and the group’s main objection appears to be related to the plans for quarantine for those returning from overseas, with that policy set to take effect next month.

Speaking in advance of today’s rally, a statement from the organisers said, “The Bermuda Freedom Alliance is a large group of individuals of like-mind, from a cross-section of communities within Bermuda. Our current mission is to exercise and expose the constitutional and inalienable rights allowed to all citizens of Bermuda, for the protection of our choices, expressions, and way of life.

“We welcome people from all walks of life and do not discriminate in any way, shape, nor form. Currently, we address the upcoming regulation changes for individuals returning to the island who are not ‘vaccinated’ and who do not support the Government’s decision to impose Mandatory Quarantine at a Government-Supervised facility.

“We are reminded during each press conference that the decision to take this shot is a personal choice,” they said, adding that they feel the “Government contradicts the option given with arbitrary and tyrannical restrictions demanded of those who do not support or comply with its request.”

“Although we appreciate the Government’s efforts to keep our borders safe, we simultaneously feel its actions and requests are too extreme and we seek an immediate rescindment of the upcoming ‘Mandatory Quarantine’ regulation changes on June 6, 2021.”

Take the fight to the government let them know that we stand united all Bermudians with race not being an issue. Segments of society should not be treated differently based on an injection that is not proven.

Nor should any government have the rights to impose restrictions on a set of people for refusing too conform to their mandate. This key they talk about utter nonsense six months for the vaccinated and 3 days if you have a negative PCR test utter lunacy.

How will they police this and it begs the question of proof so what will the person have to show. This issue is contentuous and it is truly a violation of a persons constitutional rights. Sound like a prelude to a vax certificate to me but hey its just a key.

Yes their will be you who come back afraid to use your real name and talk a lot of nonsense but if your going too dispute anything put your name up. Cowardice is something I do not appreciate. Most of you who dispute my claims probably never even opened the constitution.

Then their are some who will refer to the emergency order nonsense giving the state the right to impose rules for the good of the citizens of the country.

The question begs how far can they go, and how much you as a free person, and citizen of Bermuda is willing too accept with no checks and balances.

It appears that some are willing to follow blindly with no thought or sense of integrity. What the government is doing does not fit the needs of all of the people as they would look to find an amicable solution that is fair to all citizens.

In closing just a thought from what I know they say that you get a booster shot yearly after being fully vaccinated or that was the thinking moving forward. Why is the key only for 6 months if they really trust this science.

But hey who am I to question the totalitarian government, the peoples government, the all knowing all encompassing PLP.

    • Sandgrownan says:

      Blah blah blah.

Stop being a petulant child and get vaccinated

    • AP says:

Wont get the vaccine but no issue drinking beer, smoking or eating greasy food i bet!

  2. 2020 Won says:

This government needs to get on with issuing a secure vaccine passport so we can screen out the plague carriers. It’s worth it, even if we have to Pitcher another million dollar contract.

    • LOL - the real one says:

What “plague carriers?” There is a plague of ignorance, as shown by your uneducated comment. Your statement exposes your limited ability to understand reality vs. fear-mongering. What is your relationship with Pitcher?

      • Sandgrownan says:

The curse of oak island is on TV soon, plus a mockumentary on how the moon landings were faked. Capricorn One was based on fact!!

        I know I read it on a Facebook feed…

    • saud says:

” It’s worth it, even if we have to Pitcher another million dollar contract.”

      OMG!

    • SMH says:

What a reckless comment. Those Who have been vaccinated can also transmit Covid19. So it sounds like with your lack of knowledge you are transmitting your plague.

      • Sandgrownan says:

You ever study probability? I guess not, maths probably isn’t a strong suit is it.

Go read up on vaccine efficacy – not just this one, but for mumps or measles. See if you are capable of understanding rather than drooling and eating paste.

        • Clowns says:

You mean the same probability that exists without taking your new world order jab. When 99% who get this weak virus will survive. Verses you 95% “effacy” of your fake vaccine just to control people’s lives because they want to go to a movie. f@ck you!! .looks like the odds are already in my favour

          • sandgrownan says:

Well, it’s actually at present 2% that have died to date. But, here’s the kicker, because it’s highly contagious it presents an ongoing greater risk. And, because of that it behoves those that can be vaccinated, should.

2% represents approximately 3.5 million people. That’s a lot of people, and remember it’s not over. So, 600K of those are in the US, which has reasonable healthcare on a global standard (hideous when compared to other developed nations). If you look at what is happening in India, and Brazil, then some projections have the death rate increasing significantly before it drops. Lack of access to vaccines, and even basic sanitation plus lack of political will (see Brazil, the US under Trump) will cause that spike in cases.

Even in the US, the forecast is for close to 1m people to die. One Million.

Some things you can do to put a dent in this is to wear masks, quarantine if you’ve travelled and get yourself vaccinated.

Over a billion people have now had a vaccine of one form or another.

It’s not about controlling peoples lives, but about protecting the population at large. It’s why we wear seatbelts, and why we’re not allowed to drive pissed. The anti-vax idiots who liken this to some sort of apartheid are, disgustingly insulting to those that have actually lived under apartheid.

And one final thing, for all those idiots complaining about government mandated quarantine, that’s because of the recent spike which was caused by some ignorant Bermudians who cannot follow simple instructions.

Selfish, ignorant and stupid. How many people drowned with their lungs full of fluid because of that?

    • Heck no! says:

      No more money for Pitcher!

  3. Calvin Swan says:

How many people participated in this protest?

    • Toodle-oo says:

Well , with the last one it was boldly claimed that it was ‘the majority’ so maybe the same thing again ? lol

    • Question says:

About 100 people. 1/650th of Bermuda’s population. The other 649/650ths can safely ignore them.

  4. DarkStar says:

Singapore, Canada, etc….. have similar programs for any body entering their countries. Stay on the rock and enjoy your freedom. If you want to leave the rock and not be vaccinated then you lose some freedom for 2 weeks and it is going to cost you

  5. saud says:

“. Segments of society should not be treated differently based on an injection that is not proven.”

Nor should some Bermudians be treated differently because of their sexual preference. But, this is Bermuda, and it is, and always will be, at least 50 years behind the rest of the modern world.

  6. Unbelievable says:

I’ll say it again: these people would do a lot more good if they supported businesses like restaurants during this period. This car rally will not advance their cause.
