CAC Games Qualifier Men & Women Results
The Central American and Caribbean Games Qualifier Tournament is taking place in Bermuda, and the recent round of action saw Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and Bermuda all earn wins, while one match ended in a draw.
Central American & Caribbean Games Qualifier Men’s
Puerto Rico 1 – Jamaica 1
Puerto Rico earned their second point of the tournament following their 1 – 1 draw with Jamaica.
Jamaica scored the first goal of the tournament when Phillip Dawson scored from a penalty corner in the 14th minute, but the score was leveled in the 29th minute when Kenneth Rodriguez scored for Puerto Rico from a penalty corner.
Jamaica 4 – Bermuda 1
The Jamaica men wanted to get revenge for their women’s team as they defeated Bermuda 4 – 1.
In the 10th minute, Jamaica took the lead when Brandon Clarke scored a field goal. Jamaica doubled their lead in the 23rd minute when Phillip Dawson scored from a penalty corner.
In the 46th minute, Jamaica made it 3 – 0 when Tyrone Vernon scored from a penalty corner. It was 4 – 0 in the 53rd minute when Richard Harris scored a field goal, however Bermuda ended the bid for a shutout when Donavan Simmons scored from a penalty corner in the 60th minute, but they couldn’t get any closer.
Central American & Caribbean Games Qualifier Women’s
Puerto Rico 1 – Guyana 0
Puerto Rico edged Guyana in the first women’s match of the tournament 1 – 0.
The lone goal of the game came in the 48th minute after several penalty corner attempts when captain Josefina Freaney converted from a penalty corner to give them the lead and also the win.
Jamaica 1 – Bermuda 2
Bermuda’s women came from behind to defeat Jamaica 2 – 1.
After a scoreless first half, Jamaica took the lead in the 37th minute when Isabel Roe scored from a field goal. Eleven minutes later Bermuda was level when Georgia Harris scored from a penalty corner, and Bermuda’s winner came three minutes later when Maya Palacio scored a field goal.
