Road Traffic Notice For Carifta Triathlon
Road closures will be in place in order to accommodate the triathlon on Saturday, September 24 between the hours of 8.25am and 11.00am and on Sunday, September 25 between the hours of 11.25am and 1.00pm.
A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Public Works wishes to inform motorists that the Bermuda Triathlon Association International Road Race will take place on Saturday, September 24th, 2022 between the hours of 8:25 am and 11:00 am and on Sunday, September 25th, 2022 between the hours of 11:25 am and 1:00 pm. The following routes will impact all vehicular traffic.
Cycle Race Route
“Commencing on Cooper Island Road, then travel in northerly direction to the Cooper Island Road and Pepper Hall Road junction. Make a left turn onto Southside Road and continue left to travel in an westerly direction to the junction, continuing left on Southside Road, then continuing along Southside Road until making a U-turn around White’s Roundabout at the junction of Longfield Road and Westcott Road.
“Then travel in an easterly direction along Southside Road until reaching the junction of Southside Road and Tommy Fox Road, turning right onto Southside Road until reaching the Cooper’s Island roundabout at the junction of Pepper Hall Road and Cooper’s Island Road. Turn right on Cooper’s Island Road then travel in southerly direction along Cooper Island Road to either complete one lap or until reaching race finish line.
Traffic Control:
- The bicycle race will commence on Saturday, September 24th at 8:25am and is expected to conclude by 11:00am, also on Sunday, September 25th at 11:25 am and is expected to conclude by 1:00 pm. All motorists are expected to use caution and avoid collision with race participants. The race route will be under the direction of the Bermuda Police service and race officials. Motorists are required to follow directions and instructions to assist with traffic control for this event.
Road Closures:
- The roads will be closed whilst the races take place during the listed timeframes.
Parking:
- There will be no parking restriction for this bicycle race, but motorists are permitted to park in designated parking bays along any part of the race route. Additionally motorists must not block the race route or impede the participants in the bicycle race.
“In addition, the Bermuda Police Service are hereby authorized to close off streets or portions of streets and authorize parking as the Commissioner of Police decides.”
