October 19, 2022

Did you serve in the Royal Bermuda Regiment, The Bermuda Rifles or the Bermuda Militia Artillery? If so, the Royal Bermuda Regiment Association [RBRA] wants to hear from you.

A spokesperson said, “The Royal Bermuda Regiment Association [RBRA] wants to hear from you! The RBRA was formed in February 2020 on the eve of the Covid 19 Pandemic to promote, foster and maintain the tradition and well-being of The Royal Bermuda Regiment and its predecessor units.”

Peter Aldrich, the current RBRA President states, “Since 1 September 1965, over 13,000 soldiers and officers have served in the Regiment. Currently we have a solid membership of around 210 persons both in Bermuda and overseas and we are looking to connect with as many former soldiers and affiliates as possible to build our membership.”

The spokesperson said, “The Association aims to foster the esprit de corps, comradeship, and welfare of the Regimental Family by building community, fostering inclusivity, and advocating for the welfare of both serving and ex-serving soldiers [veterans].”

WO2 Cliff Lambert [RET], the RBRA Sergeant Major and Chairman of the Membership Committee added “The Regimental Family is huge, the Regiment has positively influenced many, many young men and women and made a profound impact on Bermuda’s social environment dating back to 1965.

“As one of the first members of the amalgamated Bermuda Regiment in 1965 I have experienced this firsthand. It is important that we support each other and embrace the importance of our military service and foster that pride in our regiment and our country by joining the Association today! We will be looking for you!”

The spokesperson said, “The Association seeks to maintain contact between past and present members of the Regiment, by attending association and Regiment events, social gatherings and sports and public events. The Association is also actively working to document and preserve the history of the Royal Bermuda Regiment for future generations.

“Membership is open to actively serving soldiers, Bermuda Coast Guard, former/retired RBR soldiers and predecessor units. Basic membership is only $20 year, with membership being free for members over 65 years of age.

“The RBRA has been invited by the Royal Bermuda Regiment to march in the Remembrance Day Parade on November 11th, 2022. If you are a former RBR soldier and are interested in joining us on parade, please contact the association as soon as you can.
