Museum Expands Online Holiday Gift Shop
The National Museum of Bermuda [NMB] has expanded their online gift shop, introducing a new ornament and jigsaw puzzle in addition to reproductions of historic prints and maps, NMB Press publications and memberships.
A spokesperson said, “Shop proceeds directly support all the work of the Museum. NMB’s famous mouse-catcher, Bastion the cat, joins beloved sheep and King Neptune tree ornaments, all made by local artisan Lama Handmade BDA. All large ornaments sell for $25 and mini sheep ornaments are $15.
“A jigsaw puzzle featuring a watercolour by Dr. Johnson Savage, Royal Artillery, is a new addition to the shop this year, and there is a limited supply of another jigsaw puzzle featuring an Emancipation Day vignette from NMB’s Hall of History by Graham Foster. Puzzles are $50 each and designed by SJD World.
“Map enthusiasts will love the colour print of the first ever hydrographic survey of Bermuda by Commander Thomas Hurd RN, 1788-1797 [prices start at $150]. And, prints from Dr. Savage’s album of original watercolour paintings and sketches of Bermuda between 1833-36 are selling for $75. Maps and prints are produced locally by Loris Toppan at ESC Printing.
“Earlier this month, the Museum launched “Donate to Detonate”, endorsed by a recent purchaser as “literally the best Christmas present I’ve ever bought!”. Visit www.nmb.bm/donate-to-detonate to learn more.”
Katie Bennett, NMB Advancement Director shared: “We are excited to be expanding our gift shop offerings this year, providing great gifts for everyone on your list. All proceeds from our shop directly support NMB: funding education and outreach initiatives, the care of our collection of 80,000+ objects and our work to ensure that learning Bermuda history is part of every educational journey on Island.”
The spokesperson said, “To shop, visit www.nmb.bm/shop. To give the gift of membership, visit www.nmb.bm/join. NMB staff will also be selling holiday wares at the BHS Holiday Bazaar on December 2, the BUEI Harbourside Market on December 9, and at Carols with Dolphins at Dolphin Quest [NMB] on December 10.”
