Premier In London, Has Meetings, Meets King
Premier David Burt is currently in London for the Overseas Territories Joint Ministerial Council, and he said he highlighted matters including the UK’s “rejection of Bermuda’s cannabis legislation” and the “issues caused by the removal of BMU codes from OT passports.”
In addition, the Premier and Governor Rena Lalgie attended a reception at Buckingham Palace where they met with King Charles III.
Premier Burt posted the image below and said, “This week I led a delegation for the Bermuda Government to London for the annual Joint Ministerial Council. Yesterday, the Deputy Premier and I attended meetings of the UK Parliament’s Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee and Foreign Affairs Committee.
“I highlighted critical matters on behalf of Bermuda, including concerns about the United Kingdom’s rejection of Bermuda’s cannabis legislation passed twice by Bermuda’s elected representatives and the issues caused by the removal of BMU codes from OT passports.”
The Government posted the images below and said, “Premier David Burt, Governor Rena Lalgie, and other Overseas Territories [OT] Leaders and Governors met with His Majesty The King, Charles III at a reception at Buckingham Palace, yesterday.
“During the reception at Buckingham Palace, OT Leaders and Governors discussed shared matters of mutual interest regarding their respective territories.
“The public will be aware that Premier Burt is currently in the UK attending the OT Joint Ministerial Council Meetings. Leaders from Anguilla, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Falkland Islands, Gibraltar, Montserrat, Turks and Caicos Islands, Ascension, Tristan Da Cunha and St. Helena have convened in London for the annual gathering.
“Premier Burt also had bi-lateral meetings with key representatives of the UK Government. The Premier returns to Bermuda tomorrow [Friday]. The Premier is supported on the UK visit by Kimberley Durrant, UK Representative and Director of Bermuda’s London Office.”
Must have been putting the wheels in motion for his knighthood. Such hypocrisy from Burt.
