11-Year-Old Boy Recovering In U.S. Hospital

An 11-year-old boy, who was seriously injured after being struck by a car in Sandys on December 7th, was “airlifted to the U.S. for further medical care” and is ‘recovering in a U.S. hospital,” the police said today.

A police spokesperson said, “At last check, an 11-year-old boy seriously hurt after being struck by a car one week ago in Sandys parish, was recovering in a U.S. hospital.

“The local student was initially treated at the scene by emergency medical technicians, then admitted into the Intensive Care Unit of King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, before being airlifted to the U.S. for further medical care.

“The collision occurred around 3:45pm Thursday, 7th December 2023, on Somerset Road, just outside of Somerset Bridge Apartments, when the boy attempted to cross the road after getting off a minibus.

“Additional individuals have since come forward to assist with ongoing inquiries and the Bermuda Police Service [BPS] appreciates their cooperation.
