Some of the world’s top athletes descended on the Flora Duffy Stadium on Sunday [April 28] for the USATF Bermuda Grand Prix.
Among the top names delivering showstopping performances were Noah Lyles, of the United States, who won the men’s 100 metres in 9.96sec, Kirana James, of Grenada, who stormed to victory in the men’s 400 in 46.00, and Abby Steiner, of the US, who triumphed in the women’s 200 in 22.71.
Local favourites Jah-Nhai Perinchief was runner-up in the men’s triple jump with a leap of 17.13, and Dage Minors, who came fifth in the men’s 1,500 in 3:55.41.
Eight of the islands Special Olympics athletes competed with distinction in the Special Olympics Celebration, and some of the island’s top young sprinters battled for honours in the Athene Fastest Kid on de Rock.
