Top Riders Set For National Championships
The Bermuda National Championships promises to be fiercely competitive, with the island’s top professional cyclists returning to battle for honours, starting with the time-trial in Clearwater tomorrow [June 20] at 6 pm.
Kaden Hopkins, the defending men’s champion, arrived back on the island a few days ago from France, where he has impressed during his campaign for Vendée U – a Division One development team for Team TotalEnergies.
Caitlin Conyers, the defending women’s champion, is also expected on the start line after claiming her second Sinclair Packwood Memorial Race title on Bermuda Day.
In the men’s race, Conor White, the Male Athlete of the Year and time-trial specialist, will also be in contention after a series of eye-catching displays for the Austin Outlaws Cycling Club.
Nic Narraway, who races for Team California, is another rider in a rich vein of form, having finished runner-up in the second stage of the Redlands Classic in California in April.
Challenging Conyers, a former professional cyclist with the Lux Development Team in California, will be pro rider Gabriella Arnold, who secured one of the biggest wins, competing for LA Sweat, in the McElroy River Parks Criterium in Tulsa, Oklahoma, last week.
The Road Race National Championships, which were won by Hopkins and Conyers last year, will be held in St David’s on Sunday at 8 am.
The final leg of the championships, the Criterium, which was won by Conyers and White last year, will be staged at Fort Knox, on June 30 at 7.30 am.
