Mia Fishel On Pre-Season Tour With Chelsea
Footballer Mia Fishel has travelled with the Chelsea Women’s team for their pre-season tour of the United States as she continues her recovery from a long-term knee injury.
Fishel, whose father is Bermudian, underwent knee surgery in March after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury while training with the US women’s national team.
The 23-year-old forward will hope to impress new manager Sonia Bompastor, who has replaced Emma Hayes, who led Chelsea to a fifth successive Women’s Super League [WSL] title last season.
Hayes recently guided the US women’s team to a gold medal at the Olympic Games in Paris just ten weeks after taking charge.
Born in San Diego, California, Fishel joined Chelsea from Mexican club Tigres on a three-year contract last summer, scoring once in ten appearances in the WSL last term.
She made her senior US debut as a substitute in a win over South Africa in September last year.
Chelsea, who defeated NJ/NY Gotham City 3-1 in their first pre-season friendly on Monday [August 19], face WSL rivals Arsenal in Washington DC on Sunday.
