DeSilva-Andrade To Play In Bronze Medal Match
Yushae DeSilva-Andrade will play for a chance for the bronze medal later today [Sept 1] at the Paralympic Games after being narrowly defeated in a dramatic semi-finals that was so close it required a tiebreaker.

Competing in the women’s BC1 division semi-final against France’s Aurelie Aubert, DeSilva-Andrade won the first end, Aubert leveled the score at 1-1 by winning the second end, DeSilva-Andrade won the third end to take a 2-1 lead, then Aubert won the fourth end to level the score again at 2-2, sending the match into a tiebreaker, which resulted in Aubert winning 3-2.
DeSilva-Andrade will face Hiromi Endo of Japan at 12 noon [Bermuda time] today, and depending on the result of that match, she will either win the bronze medal or place 4th overall, meaning regardless of the outcome she will achieve an excellent placing in these Games.
“It was such a crazy game – I’m happy with how I played [against Aubert],” DeSilva-Andrade told Bernews. “I played the best I could. I thought it would go a bit different than it did.”
