Khano Smith’s Rhode Island Defeat Legion
Khano Smith’s Rhode Island earned a 2-0 win at home to Birmingham Legion in the USL Championship on Saturday [August 31].
Goals from Stephen Turnbull in the 71st minute and substitute JJ Williams in the 90th minute handed Rhode Island their eighth victory of the season.
Smith, a former Bermuda and New England Revolution winger, was appointed as head coach and general manager of Rhode Island in March last year.
Rhode Island, who have climbed to fifth in the table, are away to Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Saturday [September 7].
