Child Evangelism Appoints Shayla Woods
Child Evangelism Fellowship celebrates its 10th anniversary with the appointment of Ms. Shayla Woods as its first full-time missionary and Assistant Director.
A spokesperson said, “Child Evangelism Fellowship [Bermuda] is celebrating its 10th Anniversary with the presentation of Ms. Shayla Woods – our first full-time Missionary, who graduated earlier this month from the Children’s Ministry Institute, Warrenton, Missouri. Ms. Woods joined CEF this past July before she went off to study at the Institute. In addition to her ministry responsibilities, she will also serve as the Assistant Director of CEF Bermuda.
“Ms. Woods will be presented at the Anniversary Banquet, which will take place at the Willowbank Resort on Saturday, 7th December at 7:00 pm. Ticket cost is $100 and tickets are available from the CEF office on the second floor of the Walker Arcade or by calling 335-6899. The dress code is semi-formal attire.
“Child Evangelism Fellowship, established in 1937, is an international Children’s Ministry that exists in almost every country in the world, with the exception of North Korea. CEF is a Bible-centered, interdenominational, worldwide organization, composed of born-again believers whose purpose and mission is to evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, disciple them in the Word of God, and establish them in a Bible-believing church for Christian living. The local branch of CEF started about 40 years ago but was discontinued. However, the organization was re-established in Bermuda 10 years ago.
“CEF Bermuda offers four key programs throughout the year. During the school term, volunteers from various churches around the island conduct the Good News Club in our primary schools. Every week, for about an hour, these volunteers from neighboring churches teach the children Bible-based songs, help them learn a memory verse, share a Bible lesson, and engage them in fun activities.
“When schools break for the summer, CEF offers two additional programs under the direction of our part-time Ministry Coordinator, Ms. Serena Simmons, and summer missionaries from North Carolina, Jude and Madelyn Yoshino. The Christian Youth in Action [CYIA] program recruits teens, provides them with training in presentation skills, Bible knowledge, and classroom management. Once trained, these teens go on to teach in the 5-Day Club – similar to Vacation Bible School. The teens effectively minister to the younger children in locations such as summer camps, backyards, and church halls.
“This past summer, CEF reached 192 children across the island. At Christmas, Child Evangelism Fellowship visits schools with neighboring pastors to share ‘The True Meaning of Christmas’ with the children during an assembly. Each child receives a treat and a drink box along with a booklet titled ‘Meet the King.’ Additionally, CEF organizes the Christmas Party Club, where churches are encouraged to invite children from their surrounding neighborhoods to a Christmas party. Child Evangelism Fellowship will train volunteers on how to host a Party Club to make the event both meaningful and exciting for the children.
“Child Evangelism Fellowship is a Registered Charity and raises its funds through donations. Should you be willing to attend our Anniversary Dinner, if your school or church is interested in offering one of our programs, or if you are interested in volunteering—whether to assist with fundraising, teaching in our after-school clubs, or assisting in the office—please contact us at 335-6899 or email us at cefbda@outlook.com.”
