Bermudian boxer Andre Lambe is gearing up for his highly anticipated return to the ring against Mexico’s Francisco Martinez on February 15 at The Shed in Dockyard.

Lambe, boasting an undefeated record of 11-0, has fully recovered from a broken right hand sustained during his previous bout — a unanimous decision victory over American Kenny Paklos at the same venue in May.

The six-round welterweight contest against Martinez marks Lambe’s comeback after a period of recovery and preparation.

“I’m fully fit – I’ve got a bit of a swollen knuckle now, which might work in my favour!” Lambe told Bernews.

Martinez, 24, enters the fight with a record of 12 wins and nine losses.

Most recently, he faced Canadian Justin Gandoza [16-0] in September, where he suffered a second-round technical knockout defeat in a ten-round super-welterweight bout in Veracruz, Mexico.

“My opponent is an aggressive fighter and not fearful,” said Lambe. “It should be an exciting fight. I’m looking to bring some aggression.”

To prepare for the clash, Lambe will train at the Fresh & Hungry Boxing Club in Warwick, fine-tuning his skills and regaining peak form.

Looking beyond this fight, Lambe revealed plans for an ambitious 2025, which includes competing overseas.

“I’m looking to push for overseas bouts next year,” Lambe added “That’s definitely on the cards.

“It’s just about picking the right opportunities. It needs to be beneficial to me. My team have been talking to some people and we have some things lined up.”
