IDA Bermuda Players Enjoy Spain Experience
Six players from the International Development Academy Bermuda have completed their competitions at the Surf Cup International tournament in Salou, Spain.
The Valencia IDA Royal Under-17 side, featuring Dakayo Leverock, and Jah’Zion Taylor, advanced from the group stages to the Gold Championship, before losing in the semi-finals to Spanish side Nastic SA on penalties.
Meanwhile, the Valencia IDA Under-15 team, which included Xavier Thomas-Bassett, Roman Wilkinson, Ibraheem Talbot and Zydon Lightbourne-Furbert, qualified for the Silver Championship and were defeated by Canadian side, the Elite Football Academy, in the quarter-finals.
Richard Todd, the IDA Bermuda head coach, wrote on social media: “Over the course of the event, the players got to play against and watch some very strong teams and top clubs in their age group from around the world.
“The experience will have helped the players to grow and aid their development as they aspire towards achieving their football goals.
“Future opportunities will be presented to them as a result of their participation.
“Thanks to the International Development Academy for helping to make this possible through the partnership extended to IDA Bermuda.”
