Results: New Year’s Day Harness Racing
Simsfield Stables stallion Goldrush produced a superb performance in the New Year’s Day harness pony races at the National Equestrian Centre.
Goldrush, driven by Kirista Rabain, won the Two-Year-Old Stakes race in a time of 1:04/4.
Rabain also steered Simfield’s gelding Red October to victory in a pair of Four-Year-Old Stakes races, finishing in 1:04/0 and 1:04/1.
Meanwhile, in the other Two-Year-Old Stakes race, Huntingforgold, driven and owned by Tahzii Flood, won in 1:05/5.
In the Aged Stakes races, the Mello’s Family’s War Machine, driven by Philip Correia, won the first heat in 1:02/1 and Special Gold, driven by Andrea Westerfield and owned by Alaire Godfrey and Yhir Swan, the second in 1:03/0.
Somegoldsomewhere, steered by Teshi Zuill and owned by Belhaven Stables, won both 1:04/0 and Faster time bar races.
In the two 1:04/1-1:06/1 time bar races, there were wins for Itsallaboutme, driven by Kayla Caldwell and owned by Graceland Stabes, and Kool the Fire, driven by D J Burchall and owned by Belhaven Stables.
Smart Machine, driven by Candyce Martins and owned by Belhaven Stables, won the Three-Year-old Stakes race in 1:02/3 and 1:03/1.
There were also a pair of wins by Inwood’s Realist, driven by Flood and owned by Belhaven Stables, in the 1:04/1-1:06/1 time bar races.
In the 1:06/2-1:10/3 time bar races, Reel Desire, driven by D J Burchall and owned by Belhaven Stables, won in 1:07/0 and 1:07/1.
