Paget Lions & PHC Advance To Semifinals
Paget Lions and PHC Zebras secured their spots in the FA Challenge Cup semi-finals with commanding victories, overcoming St. David’s and Hamilton Parish, respectively.
Paget Lions 2 St. David’s 0 – After Extra Time
Paget Lions have booked their place in the FA Challenge Cup semi-finals with a hard-fought 2-0 extra-time victory over First Division side St. David’s at the Southampton Oval.
After a tense and goalless 90 minutes, it was Nelson Carpenter who broke the deadlock for the Premier Division outfit in the 95th minute. Delray Rawlins then sealed the win for Paget Lions in the 114th minute, ending St. David’s resilient cup run.
PHC Zebras 4 Hamilton Parish 1
PHC Zebras have secured their place in the FA Challenge Cup semi-final draw with a convincing win over Hamilton Parish at the PHC Stadium.
The Zebras took an early lead in the 17th minute when a corner kick was fumbled by the Hamilton Parish goalkeeper, resulting in an own goal. Four minutes later, Enrique Russell doubled the lead with a right-footed shot from outside the box. Russell quickly added his second goal just a minute later, capping off a well-worked team move to make it 3-0. In the 35th minute, D’Andre Wainwright extended the lead to 4-0, dispossessing a Hamilton Parish defender before his shot was mishandled by the goalkeeper and went into the net.
Hamilton Parish managed a consolation goal in the 88th minute through Macquille Walker.
With this victory, PHC Zebras joined Devonshire Cougars and Paget Lions in the Semi-Final draw. The final Semi-Finalist will be decided in the remaining Quarter-Final match between cup holders St. George’s Colts and Premier Division leaders North Village Rams.
