‘Enforcing Parking Restrictions During Events’

June 6, 2025 | 6 Comments

The Bermuda Police Service [BPS] is advising that “parking violations, sidewalk parking in particular, along Frog Lane in Devonshire and illegal parking on Pitt’s Bay Road, will be subject to ongoing enforcement and ticketing especially during events held at nearby venues.”

A police spokesperson said, “We acknowledge past concerns raised about inconsistency in how parking infractions in these areas have been handled. The BPS takes such feedback seriously and is committed to applying traffic regulations fairly and uniformly not only at these two locations, but across the island.

“Effective immediately, officers will be proactively monitoring and enforcing parking restrictions during public events. This action is being taken to ensure public safety, maintain access for emergency vehicles, and reduce congestion.

“Motorists are urged to adhere to all parking regulations.

“The BPS appreciates the cooperation of the public in this matter.”

The HP frequently has events on and they don’t have much parking, hence people park on Pitts Bay Road creating a hazzard. What are people supposed to do?

Oh my goodness! Are they saying one law for a certain segment of the population and another law for the other segment is finally being done away with? Jesus must be really coming back soon!

So where should attendees park if you built a NATIONAL STADIUM without enough parking space? Or should they just not attend these events? I am really just curious….

They likely would prefer people to park at Cedarbridge or Police Field – problem is if Cedarbridge/Ruth Seaton James has their own event going on, that becomes potentially unavailable. Police Field isn’t always open for parking either.

They say that seeing is believing. I will reserve praise for any enforcement efforts on this one issue… to see if it might actually materialise and spread to the many other issues that are not enforced.
