The Bermuda Football Association [BFA] celebrated five exceptional young Bermudians who were awarded scholarships named in honour of the island’s footballing icons.

A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Football Association [BFA] proudly hosted its annual Legends Scholarship Presentation on Thursday, July 3rd, 2025, at the Butterfield and Vallis Conference Center at Bermuda College. The inspiring evening, which commenced at 6:00 PM, celebrated five exceptional young Bermudians who were awarded scholarships named in honour of the island’s footballing icons.

“The event was a vibrant gathering, filled with words of encouragement and invaluable history lessons shared by the very legends whose names grace these prestigious awards. The atmosphere was further enriched as each scholarship recipient took to the stage to express their heartfelt gratitude and share their aspirations.

“Mr. Mark Wade, President of the Bermuda Football Association, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the profound importance of recognizing and celebrating the contributions of Bermuda’s football legends. Mr.Wade underscored how the scholarships serve as a vital bridge, connecting the rich history of the sport with the promising future of its youth.

“Diallo Rabain, Minister of the Cabinet and Digital Innovation was also in attendance. Minister Rabain shared poignant words of encouragement, stressing the critical importance of education and robust community support in shaping the lives of young athletes.

“The 2025 Legends Scholarship recipients, recognized for their academic promise and commitment, are:

  • Amir Brangman-Johnson, recipient of the Andrew Bascome Legends Scholarship.
  • Dakari Smith-Davis, recipient of the Coolridge Bell Legends Scholarship.
  • T’Syi Showers, recipient of the Dennis Brown Legends Scholarship.
  • Katherine Bean Rosario, recipient of the Sakena Clarke Legends Scholarship.
  • D’ari Coddington, recipient of the Erskine Smith Legends Scholarship.

“Ms. Natasha Dowling skillfully guided the evening’s proceedings as the Master of Ceremonies, ensuring a smooth and engaging program.

“Closing remarks were delivered by Ms. Shequita Parsons, Chair of the Women’s Committee and Scholarship Awards Selection Committee. Ms. Parsons highlighted the recipients’ keen interest in learning more about the past and present legends of Bermudian football. She also provided insight into the rigorous selection process, which ensures that the scholarships are awarded to individuals who embody the spirit of dedication, excellence, and community engagement.

“The Bermuda Football Association remains committed to fostering both athletic and academic excellence among Bermuda’s youth, recognizing that education is a cornerstone for future success.”
