The Green family has donated $25,000 to Vision Bermuda to support programmes that empower individuals who are blind or visually impaired.

A spokesperson for the family said, “We are pleased to lend support to Vision Bermuda [formerly The Bermuda Society for the Blind], and the community in which they serve. As a family, we believe in lifting others up — and Vision Bermuda gives people with vision impairment the tools to live well despite exceptionalities.”

Erica Ingemann, Executive Director, Vision Bermuda, said, “’Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.’ – Helen Keller. To Messrs. Green, on behalf of everyone at Vision Bermuda, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for your incredibly generous support of our mission. Your kindness is so much more than a donation, it is a meaningful investment in the independence, dignity, and confidence of those living with vision loss in our community.

“This remarkable gift from the Green Family is a true testament to the impact that compassionate collaboration can achieve.”

The spokesperson said, “The Green’s donation will specifically support Vision Bermuda’s programmes and services, to include vision rehabilitation therapy, orientation and mobility training, assistive technology and equipment information training, public education to promote awareness and good vision care, weekly social activities, and much more.

“Vision Bermuda successfully transitioned from operating a traditional sheltered workshop to providing comprehensive vision rehabilitation services. This shift reflected the charity’s commitment to empowering individuals who are blind or visually impaired by promoting independence, inclusion, and equal opportunity. This evolution marked a significant step in aligning Vision Bermuda’s services with international best practices and the rights of persons with disabilities.
