Alex Madeiros Earns Top Golf Certification
Bermudian Alex Madeiros has realised another major milestone in the golf industry after becoming a Certified Club Manager with the Club Management Association of America.
Madeiros left Bermuda ten years ago with his young family to live and work in the United States, departing Port Royal Golf Course as director of golf to take on a new role as sales and marketing director at Berkeley Hall Country Club in Bluffton, South Carolina.
A Certified Club Manager is a globally recognised certification, signifying expertise, experience, and commitment to the industry, and is often compared to a master’s degree.
Achieving the certification involves attending conferences, passing a comprehensive examination, and demonstrating proficiency in club operations and management principles.
Regarding his recent achievement, Madeiros said: “Achieving the CCM while managing a demanding leadership role and family life reflects a sustained commitment to professional excellence and growth.”
MP Kim Swan, one of the island’s greatest golfers, said he was thrilled about Madeiros’s latest achievement.
“I was elated hearing the news about Alex’s recent success, particularly since Alex was one of my apprentice golf professional/managers in the early 1990s when I was managing a Government quango and able to mentor young Bermudians in the golf industry to become golf managers, professionals, and course agronomists.
“Alex was driven to be the best he could be in the industry — honest, hardworking, likeable, studious, and ambitious — qualities that enabled him to progress in the golf industry.”
