Youth Basketball: Cobras & Bulldogs Win
This past weekend in BYB League action, the Mambas picked up an important victory after the Cobras were unable to field five players, while the Bulldogs secured the final playoff berth with a 60-49 win over the Piranhas.
A spokesperson said, “This past weekend, the Mambas picked up an important victory after the Cobras were unable to start five players at tip-off due to injuries and illness.
“With the Cobras sitting comfortably at 11-3 and the #1 seed already locked, the stakes were far higher for the Mambas and they will take the result as a key boost in the playoff race.
“The second game of the evening featured a high stakes clash as two teams with identical records battled for the final playoff spot.
“The Bulldogs came out determined to punch their ticket, but the Piranhas responded with a clear strategy—spacing the floor and letting it fly from deep, Enmanuel Madera Blanco led the charge with 19 points shooting 35% from deep, which kept the Piranhas competitive with consistent perimeter shooting.
“The difference came down to control and balance. Bulldogs PG Blake Johnston orchestrated the game with 18 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists, while the frontcourt delivered with Tre Simmons 10-point, 11-rebound double-double and Jamie Ashton’s 15 points shooting 4 -7 from 3’s.
“In the end, the Bulldogs size, composure, and execution secured the win— and with it, the final playoff berth.
“Bulldogs 60
“Piranhas 49
