Michael Branco Wins Hamilton Mayor Election
[Updated] Dr Michael Branco has been elected Mayor of the City of Hamilton, receiving 140 votes while Elmore Warren received 43 votes. The results were just announced and we will update with additional information as able.

Update 9.10pm: A spokesperson said, “The Parliamentary Registry advises that the results of the Municipal Election for the City of Hamilton, held on 7 May 2026, for the position of Mayor have now been confirmed. Mr. Michael Branco has been elected Mayor of the City of Hamilton.”
Dr Branco received 22 votes from Municipal Residents and 118 votes from Business Ratepayers [total 140], while Mr Warren received 25 votes from Municipal Residents and 18 votes from Business Ratepayers [total 43].
“Voter turnout was recorded as follows:
- Municipal Residents: 47 votes casts
- Business Ratepayers: 136 votes casts
“For a total voter turnout of 183 votes casts. The Parliamentary Registry thanks all election officials, candidates, agents, and voters for their participation and cooperation throughout the electoral process.”
Update 9.50pm: A Corporation of Hamilton spokesperson said, “The Corporation of Hamilton announces that Dr. Michael Branco has been elected Mayor of the City of Hamilton following today’s municipal election. Two candidates contested the mayoral election: Michael Branco and Elmore Warren.
“A total of 183 ballots were cast. The final vote tally was as follows: Michael Branco: 140 votes | Elmore Warren: 43 votes
“The Corporation of Hamilton thanks all those who participated in the municipal election process and extends its appreciation to the Parliamentary Registry, election officials, candidates, and members of the public for their engagement and support.”
Update: Following his victory, Dr Branco posted on social media saying, “Big thank you to the voters of City of Hamilton, Bermuda for coming out today to elect me as Mayor. I am humbled and honored to succeed Mayor Gosling who has laid an amazing foundation for the new City Council to build upon. Also thank you to Mr. Warren for successfully representing the concerns of North Hamilton during the election. We have work to do. And to my family and friends for their love and support to allow me to serve my city and country.”
