3rd Quarter Stats: Crime Up 18% From 2009
This morning [Oct 26] The Bermuda Police Force released the 3rd quarter [Q3] crime statistics. There were 1,258 offences in Q3 2010 which is an 18% increase over the same period last year. However, it is still the 7th lowest quarter since Q1 2005 and is below the 5 year average.
The increase is predominantly due to increases in burglary and motor vehicle theft. Also, in something that won’t surprise anyone – firearms incidents are also at an all time high.

Our business is located in the United States and we don’t ship out of country, but we do sell pepper spray, Mace, stun guns, and Tasers.
I am curious as to the laws in Bermuda. Are citizens allowed to carry weapons or self-defense devices like pepper spray or stun guns.
With crime up 18%, I would assume individuals are looking for ways to protect themselves.
Please forgive me if this sounds naive. Because of the nature of our business and our future plans, I am very interested in the laws and public response to crimes outside the United States.
