Video: Nahki Wells Back In Bermuda
Last night [Nov.13] Nahki Wells returned to Bermuda on British Airways, set to play in tonight’s final CONCACAF World Cup Qualifier, which will see Bermuda take on Barbados at 8pm at the National Stadium.
Bermuda’s first match up against Barbados was on Friday [Nov.11], and saw Bermuda win 2-1, with captain Khano Smith converting a penalty in the 27th minute, and Kwame Steede scoring in the 49th minute. Wells said it was great to know that Bermuda won, and “to come from behind shows our determination.”
Speaking on tonight’s game Wells said, “The main thing is for us to win, to get 3 points and do the best we can. Obviously we can’t progress, but this can help us. Other countries will be looking to give us more games, to give us more friendlies, which will help our rankings, and obviously can give us more income to help us going forward as a country.”
The whirlwind 48 hour trip, which will see Wells depart tomorrow, comes on the heels of his game winning goal in the U.K on Saturday that gave Bradford City a 1-0 win, and was lauded in the U.K. media as ”one of the best goals seen.”
Video interview with Nahki Wells last night:
On Saturday [Nov.12] Wells scored a blistering long distance shot that put Bradford City into the next round of the English FA Cup after they defeated Rochdale 1 – 0.
After coming on as a substitute, Wells picked up the ball in the 84th minute just inside his half of the field and then blasted a big right footed effort from 25 – 30 yards that flew pass Rochdale goalkeeper David Lucas.
Speaking with Bernews last night, Wells called it “probably the best goal of his career.” He said when he returns to the U.K. he is hoping to get more time on the field, and be more of an impact player.
The video of the goal has been viewed over 11,000 times already:
