Cargo Ship Diverts To Bermuda

On Wednesday [Jan.25] a cargo ship making its way from the United States to Finland diverted to Bermuda due to a sick crew member.

A Bermuda Radio spokesperson said they “received a call from the 12,400 GRT, Gibraltar flag, General Cargo ship m/v TOFTON reporting a sick crew member who required medical attention. The TOFTON was on passage from Savannah, GA, USA to Kemi, Finland and diverted to Bermuda.

“At 2:05pm the vessel arrived at Murray’s anchorage where the patient was transported to KEMH for treatment. The TOFTON remained at anchor overnight and then resumed her passage to Finland the following day.”
