Elderly Resident Robbed In US

January 21, 2012

A Bermuda resident staying at Cleveland’s Homestead Guest Studio Suites for a surgical procedure being performed at a nearby private clinic was robbed earlier this month.

Cleveland media outlets are reporting when the woman, 72, was scheduled to go back on January 5 for a post-operation appointment, a driver from the clinic came to pick her up.

“She reported that the driver was standing in the doorway as she put two wallets in her travel bag, not zipping the bag all the way,” police said.

After her appointment, she noticed that the wallets — containing $450 cash, a pair of 24-karat gold earrings, credit and debit cards, a cell phone a driver’s license and medical cards — were missing from her bag.

She added that, other than the driver, only she and attending nurse had access to the travel bag.

She has cancelled all of the credit cards, for which no activity had yet been shown, and detectives will be following up on the investigation.

At least she wasn’t hurt. Here they would have smacked her around to show her the love before taking both wallets.

This is not a robbery. For robbery you need threats of or actual violence etc.
Sounds like a pick pocket or opportunity thief to me. Not a robbery.
