Fitted Dinghy Races Cancelled This Sunday
Due to the possible hurricane this weekend, the fitted dinghy races are cancelled for this Sunday [Sept 9], with the final race day to be September 16th in St. George’s Harbour. Best wishes to everyone.
The latest forecasts from both the Bermuda Weather Service and U.S. National Hurricane Center this morning [Sept 5] show Tropical Storm Leslie strengthening into a hurricane and passing close to Bermuda this weekend.
Bermuda Weather Service Meteorologist Ken Smith said: “Storm force winds will likely arrive Saturday evening and hurricane force winds around dawn Sunday. As Leslie begins to move away to our north conditions will gradually ease through the day Sunday, finally becoming strong southwesterly Sunday night.”
