Police Confirm Assault, Appeal For Witnesses

December 9, 2012

The police have confirmed that the 29-year-old Pembroke man who was found lying injured on the ground outside Woody’s in Sandys on Thursday [Dec 6] was assaulted, and appealed for anyone with any information to come forward.

He was rushed to KEMH where he was listed in critical condition in the ICU, and has now been flown abroad to receive specialised care for serious head injuries.

The initial statement on the matter said the man was injured, but did not specify how, with the police saying they were interested in speaking with anyone who may have information on how the man was injured.

The police said his injuries were not caused by a shooting, and said they are interested in speaking with anyone who was in Woody’s car park at around 12:10am Thursday, or anyone with any information regarding this assault.

The full police statement is below:

Around 12:45am on Thursday, 6th December 2012, police and first responders attended a reported medical emergency outside Woody’s Bar & Restaurant in Sandys parish. On arrival officers observed an unresponsive male on the premises.

The victim, a 29 year old Pembroke man, was treated at the scene by EMTs and conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of apparent head injuries.

He was initially admitted to the Intensive Care Unit; however the victim is currently hospitalised abroad receiving specialised care for serious head injuries. His injuries are not as a result of a shooting.

After further enquiries into this incident, it has been revealed that the victim was in fact assaulted.

Detectives from the Serious Crime Unit are now investigating this matter and are particularly interested in speaking with those persons who would have been in the car park outside of Woody’s around 12:10am Thursday, or anyone with any information on the circumstances regarding this brutal assault.

  2. mixitup says:

    • Tricks are For Kids says:

@ mixitup…earlier reports indicate that it DID NOT HAPPEN at Woodys…..word is …he was dropped there….

  3. Awake says:

Wasn’t there an earlier report that the victim might have been dropped off at Woody’s by way of a boat? Come one! Isn’t there more to this story?

  4. Argosy says:

Woody’s seems to be a bit of a centre for criminal acts….

Perhaps a good idea would be to install CCTV coverage around there….?

Oh, wait, there’s no money, right. Where did it all go?

Why not ask you-know-who? Well, it might be considered a “plantation question”, so plan “B” could be to ask the lady who signed the checks!

Don’t hold your breath waiting for a response…be like the “promised” mid-term and pre-budget #s. The silence says it all…

Talking of silence, where’s Laverne? Perhaps dusting off her CV and going to job interviews?

  5. SMH says:

Maybe the Police should have asked everyone who was there? !!

That would have been a Bright IDEA

But no as usual They didn’t and because the situation is serious , they now want to act on this.

    PATHETIC

  6. .... says:

THE PAPER NEVER REPORTS THE TRUTH…..TAKE EVERYTHING REPORTED WITH A GRAIN OF SALT UNLESS STRAIGHT FROM THE SOURCE.

  7. Bermuda Girl says:

A head injury! OMG. I hope this young man isn’t brain damaged. These idiots have really done it now.
