70-Year-Old Man Arrested For DUI After Collision

A 70-year-old Hamilton parish man was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving after crashing his auxiliary cycle last night [Feb 5] on North Shore Road in Devonshire near Barkers Hill.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 6:30pm on Tuesday, February 5th police and first responders attended a reported single vehicle collision on North Shore Road in Devonshire near Barkers Hill.

“It appears that an auxiliary cycle was being ridden along North Shore Road when the rider, a 70 year old Hamilton parish man, fell to the ground and was injured.

“The Hamilton parish man was treated at the scene by EMTs before being taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for further medical examination.

“At last check, the victim was in stable condition and recovering on a general ward. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. Inquiries into this collision are ongoing.

    People just continue to say, ” they cannot tell me what to do. I pay this n I pay that. They don’t give me nothing towards my licence n insurance.”
    Well BPS, make an example of this 70 year old man as he is one of them, that we truly expect to set the ewxample. He is only lucky he can be charged and not eulogized. Show that BPS, RSC n the Government of this day is serious and if u don’t do your duty as been stated, then shut down n let everybody DUI. Send him Westgate n show that Bermuda is not playing n age doesn’t matter. He had to known better. Send him. Set the law in place n no disrespect to the inebriated. This must stop NOW n he is probably a grandfather setting the poor example n we talk about our young adults. Oh Please. Tempted n tried and now MUST face to judge. No leniency because of age either n flip the reckonables. Book him DANO!!!!!!
