CellOne Introduces ‘USA 25’ Roaming Plan

October 4, 2013

CellOne announced today [Oct 4] the launch of brand new roaming rates for travelers visiting the USA. This new add-on feature will be available immediately providing an affordable roaming alternative.

The Company said, “Priced at $25 per month, travelers roaming in the USA will get access to substantially lower rates vs. the traditional pay per use option. With calling rates at only $0.25/min and data at $0.25/MB, CellOne has the lowest roaming rates to the USA including their data at 50% less than their competitor.”

“Giving customers options to choose which plan suits their needs is the driving force of this new offering.” says Frank Amaral, CellOne CEO. “People have adapted their mobile usage when overseas as they try to minimize roaming charges. This new feature allows them to stay connected at affordable rates that in some cases are on par with local rates.”

  1. Nuffin but da Truth says:

    ROAMING should be scrapped!

  2. CellOne customer says:

I have been a CellOne customer since your acquisition of M3 wireless. It’s a crying shame that within hours of Digicel’s announcement earlier today, you are prompted to introduce CellOne’s new roaming plan. I am left to wonder whether you have been sitting on this new plan for quite some time, enjoying the higher fees you have historically earned from roaming charges paid by your loyal customers like myself. If that is indeed the case, you should have been quoted as saying “giving customers options when it is convenient for us, or borne out of necessity in responding to our competitors better offering…” I expect far more from my service provider Mr. Amaral….perhaps you will keep this in mind when you consider similar enhancements/savings for CellOne customers.

    • Whistling Frog says:

F these cell phone providers! It’s just pure greed….
Who needs these f’res when you have skype for free? or even whatsapp, BBM. Get with it people and stop being so gullible when it comes to things.

The prices are high because of the demand, hold off until they offer better choices of service.

  3. Stranded says:

fix your roaming coverage first. Left me stranded with out internet on my phone too many times…charge whatever you want, if it don’t work it don’t work for me

  4. Baffled says:

Quick question….why “roam” when US cell providers offer prepaid options at fractions of the cost?!? #JustSaying

  5. Vote for Me says:

A day late and a dollar short!!

Customers need to be able to respond to these actions. How is it possible that CellOne have only offered this service in response to Digicel?

Same with airlines. They offer lower prices when competition starts but customers should stay withthe competitor once they switch.

Come on CellOne, offer somthing unique and not in response to Digicel!!

  6. Seriously? says:

So for an additional charge of $300 a year we get to save maybe $200 a year on roaming charges? Great deal!!!

  7. Triangle Drifter says:

No thanks. I’ll stay with my $45 per month, unlimited everything, Walmart Straightalk phone. I also have a Walmart Tracphone, dirt cheap & on the Verizon network, which gives excellent coverage across the US.

The Bermuda cell provider phone gets turned off as I get on the plane & does not get turned on again till touchdown on the return.

Too little too late to stick with you guys when I travel.

  8. Umm.... says:

CellOne are jokes! I’m definitely leaving when my contract is up. This plan was announced hours after Digicel’s plan? I know they didn’t do all the technical development and testing that quickly. How would they even know about Digicel’s plan. It’s the exact same thing. Sounds like CellOne has a mole inside Digicel or something.

But seriously. Are you only going to offer “value” when you’re forced to by your competition? And then you laud your new plan as if you are pioneering the market. It’s like Logic lauding that they lowered their price. LOL! They were forced to by TBI and Digicel! These reactionary tactics are why we lose in Bermuda. I can’t in good faith give my money to a company whom I feel is holding back on A) better value and B) better products because they aren’t forced to offer them. Good riddance, CellOne!

  9. rainbow says:

Sounds like a disgruntled Digicell employee to me…

  10. Really? says:

Last time I was in the states I bought a Samsung smartphone from Walmart for $99. It came with $50 of talk/internet which lasted the entire month I was there! When I left, I gave it to a friend who really appreciated it and is still using it to this day. If you use your Bermuda phone for roaming, you have too much or… You are not of sound mind.
