Writs Filed In Supreme Court Against Bean, Burt

February 21, 2014

[Updated] According to Supreme Court records, three writs have been entered today [Feb 21] with Premier Craig Cannonier filing against Opposition Leader Marc Bean and MP David Burt, while Minister Shawn Crockwell and Attorney General Marc Pettingill also filed against Marc Bean.

Writ No 74 names Premier Craig Cannonier as plaintiff and MP David Burt as the defendant. The law firm entering the writ is identified as Conyers, Dill, & Pearman.

Writ No 75 is Premier Craig Cannonier as plaintiff and Opposition Leader Marc Bean as the defendant. The law firm is Conyers Dill & Pearman.

Writ No 76 shows Minister Shawn Crockwell and Minister Marc Pettingill as plaintiffs and Marc Bean as defendant. The law firm is MJM Ltd.

The controversy began last week Friday with strong allegations made in the House of Assembly by both Mr Bean and Mr Burt, which they both subsequently repeated outside of Parliamentary Privilege.

The Premier later held a press briefing on February 19 where he denied both Opposition Leader Marc Bean and MP David Burt’s allegations, and said he will be seeking “full damages through the Courts for slander.”

Update Feb 24: This article originally stated that the writs on behalf of Minister Crockwell and Minister Pettingill were filed by Conyers Dill & Pearman, as stated in the Supreme Court cause book. However, the records have since been amended to reflect that both Ministers are actually being represented by MJM Ltd.

    …and the SHOW begins!!…stay tuned!!

    • BETTTY TRUMP says:

This really reveals that the JETGATE 4 are working hard to defend their wrong actions. This is to save their butts, but after the dust settle downs, out of the door goes Premier Craig.

The UBPoba are finish with the Premier, but for now to hold power they will sit this out to hold unto power. The reality is they may take a bigger hit by this recent action. The likely that folks can not lie under oath…and Craig partner in crime will have to come forward..Craig

REALLY, digging a larger hole for himself and the JETGATE 4.

      • BETTTY TRUMP says:

The political fight to stay in power as leader is what the Premier is fighting for. But what he has forgotten is that he will go at the end of the day anyway. His time is up within the UBPoba ranks.

The Premier needs to address the QUESTIONS and stop hiding behind Lawyers to save his butt. The reality is he may not be save even with the use of 10 lawyers…TRUTH will WIN OUT..

        • Doesn't add up says:

And if Bean and Burt’s allegations are found to be slanderous would you be asking them to go?

After all, it would prove they are not intelligent enough to provide serious opposition if they cannot follow the laws on slander (or the production, sale and distribution of alcohol including copyright infringements).

          • Valirie Marcia Akinstall says:

And likewise, if they lose their legal battle, the premier and minister of tourism should step down. And, all three should give a humble public apology to the DEFENDANTS and the people of Bermuda.

I hope the Supreme of Court combines all the writs into one case against the DEFENDANTS (Bean & Burt). It will save in costs, legal fees and Court time.

Interesting…Crockwell and Pettingill may be called to give evidence against the premier.

Slander is a very difference legal case.

            London, England

            • Balanced Facts says:

Beans Defence against A-G and Crockwell is limited as he was repeating what somone else said (so whay=t he alleges the Premier they clearly deny it!)…different case. He will have problems here and may want to consider an early mia culpa that he should not have said anything in the circumstances about them! They have lawyered up it seems and if he tries to have his side kick Daniels or another PLP lawyer not expert in defamatioin law take in the case he us likely to get burned

          • Hopefulness says:

BETTTY you are correct, despite many refusing to except the truth due to their loyalty to one party or another. This action by the Premier is a waste of time, and nothing more than a distraction. It does nothing for Bermuda, except pull us further apart. He is not willing to answer key Questions. This can go on for more than one year. At the end of the day, the Premier is losing more money and his business suffer, and the OBA are now ready to get rid of him all together. Now is just time to save their position in power. Any political astute persons can see that.

        • Commie says:

Guess the truth will win out. Your party doesn’t know what the truth is or what HONESTY is a la Uguirs etc

        • MAKE MY DAY says:

*Truth* killed E. Brown in the-end!!!

      • Bod man says:

wow…you already know who the guilty one is before the trial…PLP at its best…

      • JustAskin2 says:

LOL — so folks cannot lie under oath? Watch them…

    • truthbetold says:

I am praying for this island of Bermuda. I have never seen such disgusting tactics. Politics all around the world has to deal with political slander. Some of the worlds known leaders are subject to the opposing parties slander. The presidents, prime ministers, etc. Who died and made you God….Jesus took much slander and abuse, all he did was pray for them. They slandered Dr Browns name, Jennifer Smiths, Renee Webbs etc. Who do you think you are? Did Mr Bean & Mr Burt hurt your little feelings. That’s not the way to prove to the public your innocent of the accusations. What type of leadership is that? So anybody who talks about you and you say their lying your going to take them to court? Are you paying for it, or is that coming out of governments funds also. So now your focus is on a court case, still not on the running of our country. Your suppose to be talking peace for our country, yet you can’t even forgive and move on. What type of example are you giving to the young. You don’t like what someone says take them to court. You need to be setting an example of forgiveness, not revenge!….sad!

      • CBA says:

This is way beyond feelings being hurt. We have the Opposition leader making strong allegations while investors are considering returning to Bermuda. These things cannot go unchallenged, nor can they be made without proof. This isn’t about Cannonier, this is about Bermuda.

      • JustAskin2 says:

I think that this is just one of the political deflecting tactics. Whilst they are busy holding your attention with this, be watchful they don’t slide in some new enactment or measure when you aren’t looking…

  2. Bermuda boy says:

Get strong like this with the BIU!

    • BETTTY TRUMP says:

What will it accomplish? OFten court cases are not the way to address such issues. The Premier needs to be HONEST and ADDRESS the QUestions, rather than continue to run and hide out behind lawyers and the JETGATE 4, Minister Crockwell has already thrown him under the bus in many ways..the AG is only working to save his own political career…REALLY

      • Al says:

He did. He said they were false and then sued the accusers for slander.

      • Dark Side of the Moon says:

Excuse me Betty, but your ex premier was not very honest with the people of Bermuda, now was he? Anyway, who cares if Our Premier gave a ride to a business man to help get business to Bermuda! Would you rather they said, Hey, take another flight, come on, you know EB would have never done that and hid under his rock until it all blew over. What’s good for the Goose is good for the Gander!

        • Peso says:

          SLAM DUNK

        • Hopefulness says:

@DARK SIDE OF THE MOON….BETTY makes a few good points, even if it is difficult to swallow.

If we voted for change, why excuse the OBA actions in this regard, and excuse them by suggesting well the PLP did it. I think you need to provide a better summary than that. It is weak at best. Folks voted for change, and what did we get, it seems even more critical than the actions of the PLP. I just want the Minister and Premier to be honest and stop allowing this to be a distraction in Bermuda. The Premier has failed to at least one, answer the people of this country.

          • JustAskin2 says:

We voted for change but what we got appears to be worse. Politics at its nastiest.

When Brown sued re the check fraud thing, didn’t he at least wait until the fraud was proven? The OBA are showing that they are not very mature. I think the old UBP in them is coming out…

        • drunken ursula says:

that’s why we kicked them out clown…Craig needs to go now..bring on the milkman….

          • shaka zulu says:

@drunken ursula, great choice, but think a larger portion of Bermudians ,”as we know that portion” would not want a white as leader, so your other bet would be Bob Richards, if Premier was to go..Shame that polotricks in Bermuda is still in the eighteen century, so any hopes of Zane or any other white running for the PLP will never be leader also..Bring on the thumbs down , Bettty , Mazumba and all who choose to live in the past..Free your mind and your soul will be set free..

      • Doesn't add up says:

Statements have been made and denied. Is there any proof? If so then Bean and Burt will be proved right and the Premier will have some explanations and probably resigning to do. If they are found to be slanderous then Bean and Burt will have to cough up some money and apologise.

      • GHOST says:

No NOT REALLY!!!! Do you know what defamation of character is??????????

        • js says:

          I do

for Cannonier v Bean, Bean will plead in his defence that the statements were true and in the public interest

since the alleged defamed statements were based on a private conversation the two of them had the only way the court will be able to ascertain the truth is by a trial with both of them giving sworn oral testimony tested by cross examination

whoever provides the most convincing testimony and is not shredded by cross examination will probably receive judgment in their favour

in any event it will be a three ring circus as both reputations will be on the line

the same can be said for Cannonier v Burt

as for Crockwell & Pettingill v Bean no such private conversation took place so the only evidence the court can consider is Bean’s oral testimony tested by cross examination

Bean’s reputation will be on the line but not Crockwell’s or Pettingill’s as they won’t be required to give evidence and subjected to cross examination

in a nutshell Cannonier shouldn’t have filed suit as he will be put through the ringer however Crockwell & Pettingill should have as Bean will be the one put through it

the OBA are probably fixing to kill two birds with one stone Cannonier and Bean

          • Sandy Bottom says:

In defamation cases the person who made the allegation has to prove it. Cannonier has nothing to prove.
Public interest is not a defense if the allegations were made maliciously. Burt and Bean acted together in a 4-day orgy trying to destabilize the elected givernment by making scandalous allegations. The prosecution will be able to argue that it was deliberate, coordinated, and malicious.
Bean and Burt will be the obes sweating.

            • Valirie Marcia Akinstall says:

Cannonier does not have to prove it, but the evidence is NOT just oral submissions.

The defendants can request from the Court all documents pertaining to gaming during the timespan immediately before the premier announced that the referendum will not take place. There may be evidence there to support their allegations that there were other hidden motives in regarding the referendum and they (or he, Bean) was deceptively maligned.

The above is just a hypothetical…

              • Valirie Marcia Akinstall says:

Public Interest was argued in the Reynolds case against the newspaper in the UK, now known as the Reynolds defence. The newspaper argued that there was a ‘public interest’ in publishing the libellous statements, but Reynolds (the defendant) counter argued that the repeated publishing of the libellous statements were maliciously intended.

Public interest can also be argued in the fair comment defence.

Does the remarks rise to malicious intent, based upon the foundational facts, no it does not, in my humble opinion.

                London, England

                • Sandy Bottom says:

                  What “foundational facts”?
So far there is no evidence at all that Burt and Bean didn’t just concoct these stories last week. In fact, that might be exactly what happened.

                  • Valirie Marcia Akinstall says:

Respectfully you are entitled to your opinion on the matter.

By foundational facts I mean what started this entire saga in the first place.

If you believe that Bean & Burt just concocted their stories, then it is equally believable that premier concocted his reason why the referendum was cancelled.

But think back, the Opposition’s allegations were in response to the premier’s accusation that the PLP was going to disrupt the referendum by having their voting members abstain from voting on the referendum.

Sandy Bottom, if I have to repeat the premier’s accusations about the Opposition on the referendum to you, you have NOT been following this saga very closely.

                    London, England

              • JustAskin2 says:

If there is evidence how much you want to bet that it will mysteriously disappear…

            • js says:

you may not be clear on the facts and the law

Bean’s allegations stem from a private conversation that he and Cannonier had

Bean doesn’t have to prove that what Cannonier said was true he simply has to prove that he and Cannonier had the conversation and that Cannonier made certain statements and that he was revealing publically the nature of those statements

in effect he is using Cannonier’s own alleged statements against him

therefore in order for Bean to prove this he simply needs to state it under oath and be subjected to cross examination

either the judge believes Bean’s version of the conversation or he doesn’t

Cannonier may choose to not say anything under oath but if he doesn’t he wouldn’t be able to counter Bean’s version of the conversation which will end up being the only evidence for the judge to consider

Bean will probably not be found liable for defaming Cannonier as you really can’t defame a person for something that person has told you themselves

now as it relates to Crockwell and Pettingill Bean has defamed them based on what was discussed in the private conversation that he had with Cannonier

since Cannonier was allegedly running his mouth about his Cabinet colleagues these statements amount to no more than hearsay and gossip and Bean is clearly liable for defamation for stating them publically

Actually in answer to your question about the funding of beany and burt I was thinking of a fairly recent ex-Premier who did remarkably well for himself.

Sandy, I was addressing ” coffee ” hopefully you didn’t think I was replying to you?? Sorry for the confusion!

He and his crew are steadily edging themselves away from the constituents that they are attempting to engender by these legal gymnastics. We will not be more cozy with craig because he takes these freedom fighters to court. He is so foolish! He just made them into martyrs!

      He most certainly did :-D

      • Sandy Bottom says:

So you’re admitting they are going to lose. They shot their mouths off, but they have no evidence at all. That apoears to be your assumption.

Which is what everyone else has been thinking right from the start.

        • Jus' Askin' says:

          They have already WON ;-)
This ‘Mitch Move’ has solidified OBA’s demise. You and others like you would prefer these two to just take what OBA dishes out and run away when slapped with legal papers.
These two will stand in there truths and the people will stand behind them. These writs will only damage any chance the OBA had of seeing another victory.
Burt and Bean have gained a lot of respect for not hiding behind ‘parliamentary privilege’ and sticking to their word. This matter will divide the country with the majority favoring these two gentlemen.
I have said it before and I will say it again “The BDA members of OBA days are numbered” They can not blame anyone but themselves. Hiding behind the law is a ‘Mitch Move’.
Feel free to believe they do not have proof but you will be shocked as OBA are not the only ones that record conversations.
This matter has proven that the PLP have tried to reach out and work with the current government. Their efforts were mocked and disrespected.
OBA received all the votes they were going to receive in the last election. They will have nothing but an up hill battle from here on in. ;-)

          • Sandy Bottom says:

If Burt and Bean lose, will you be expecting them to resign?

            • Jus' Askin' says:

If it is proven that they are lying, YES.
The outcome of the case(s), NO.
The reason I say the outcome of the case does not phase me, is because I have seen innocent people go down and guilty people go free or even charges being dropped.

              • Sandy Bottom says:

So you hold one side to a higher standard than the other. Again, you’re a hypocrite.

                • Jus' Askin' says:

Yes, I hold the government to a higher standard than the opposition.
If that to you makes me a hypocrite then so be it. I would hope all people were hypocrites and expect better from their leader and the government, than the opposition ;-)

                  • Sandy Bottom says:

You’re saying one side can lie and you would be fine with it. That’s a Mitch Move.

                    • Jus' Askin' says:

                      You’re smarter than that ;-) ;-)
A ‘Mitch Move’ is something you do, not say :-D
For the record what I am saying is this is not helping Bermuda go forward. Internationally this is doing more damage to our reputation.

    • nuffin but the truth says:

    • Citizen Banned says:

Guess they should have recorded the conversation.

    • Kangoocar says:

Very simple, then the Premier needs to step down!! We have had way to much underhanded stuff go on for too long and those responsible need to be held accountable, no different than if beany and Burt are found wrong, they need to go forever as well!!! this is not a political thing it is an ETHICAL thing!!!!

    • Yup,Yup says:

I know…what will ppl do then..after they stood in their corner…
saying Bean and Burt are the liars… only to realize …

    • Impressive says:

Premier Puppetier will then read a speach written for him about how he is now more concerned than ever about creating jobs and “moving Bermuda forward”.

    • JD says:

Prove it? With what? Cabinet cheques for BRIBE made out to David Burt?

Burt will say “he said this”, Craig will say “no I didn’t”.

Burt will say “but your honour I swear on a stack that he said this.”

The judge will say “that’s nice, do you have any evidence?” The case will go nowhere, and the lawyers will bill us $200k.

We will all be $200k poorer because Burt decided to spout off on national radio, instead of spouting off in parliament like he normally does. A few things that could have gotten done for our benefit, will unfortunately be delayed while this circus runs its course, and a few people overseas will have a chuckle at our expense.

I tend to feel better if I just remind myself that this sort of thing is normal for small town or village politics.

    • Sandy Bottom says:

If they prove it and win in court, fine. I don’t want corrupt politicians running the place. We’ve all had enough of that.

I don’t think it’s likely, but if they have proof, let’s see it.

      • Valirie Marcia Akinstall says:

This is the first post that I have read from you on this matter that sounds objective.

It is about ETHICS, political ethics.

If the premier knew that the PLP had nothing to do with his decision NOT to have a referendum, then why target them? Diversionary tactic?

This saga kicked off after the premier’s announcement about the referendum, nothing to do with Nandi Outerbridge and her tape. The tape is being dangled in front of the public to demonise Bean. But Ms Outerbridge may want to preserve it, just in case the Court does want to listen to it. And if the Court does, Ms Outerbridge be prepared for some very harsh criticism from the Court.

It’s about the gaming referendum and how the premier has very carefully undermined Bean and made him the fall guy or the diversionary ploy whilst he (premier) setup the gaming legislation and kept his popularity ratings favourable.

A balancing act, but you cannot accuse the Opposition of planning to undermine the referendum without a rebuttal from the Opposition. And you cannot claim that their rebuttal is ONLY being voiced because of parliamentary privilege. So, when the Opposition foregoes parliamentary privilege, now you claim it is being stated with malicious intent. They defended their right to speak the truth without the legal cover of parliamentary privilege, there is NOTHING malicious about that.

I do NOT expect all or even any bloggers to see it my way, but the entire background on WHY the referendum will not take place lacks credibility.

        London, England

Politics will always be politics no matter who is in what is important is we try to climb out of the very deep hole the last administration put us in it will take all of us to get out of this hole and that means even you…. saying what they may in Parliament is one thing but to come out in the public domain and do it well…. you better have proof maybe they do but then if they did it would have come out and criminal charges laid, my suspicion is there is none and a price will be paid ….but someone is going down if proved Cannonier is history and maybe a few more OBA but if not well you know, i don’t have to say ….

  16. BDA X says:

My bad,I didn’t say the stupid somebodys name.Bermuda Boy,indeed your statement is that of a boy!

  17. Lone Wolf says:

Nothing will happen to them. Politicians are above the law.

  18. Rhonda Neil says:

Bean & Burt you have people power…no amount of money beats people power..

    • Unbelievebale says:

And if the courts rule that they cannot prove what they allege will you still stand by Bean & Burt?

      • Furburger says:

That’s the difference. Two of the most pro OBA bloggers, Sandy and Kangoocar, have just agreed Cannonier should step down if the allegations are proven,

Will Betty, Rhonda, Mazumbo and Co. expect the same of Burt and Bean?

        • Sandy Bottom says:

Good question. No answers yet though, of course.

        • Kangoocar says:

@furburger, of course they will not!! That is why you can never take them seriously! To them they only see one thing, and that is race!! All of them are still living in the 60′s

    • Peso says:

  19. Evie says:

Now Craig you do know your boy Shawn threw your *** under the bus with both hands so everybody knows

    • Whistling Frog says:

Shawn is a smart cookie. He spoke truth on the radio because he ain’t going down for no fool. I think its the OBA’s way of getting rid of their leader…

      • Nuf-said:- says:

Shawn might have his eye on the Premiership! Then he’ll have to watch out for the BUS that it doesn’t roll him over!:-()

Clowns and puppets are everywhere in politics. Because money walks and money talks big time. It greases the wheels of MOST politicians. That is Very sad but Very true.

  20. blah says:

good!the plp trouble makers will finally get a dose medication hope the can take it!

  21. Unbelievebale says:

Like that other bie said last week…why would Superman go to Lex Luthor and tell him where the kryptonite is?

    • me says:

@unbelieveable, –and where esactly did the idea of superman come from in the first place!?–there are many revelations to be revealed and i hope all are ready!

  22. Take it Easy! says:

Funny these PLPers suffer from alzheimer’s disease! THE trip was one to help bermuda, 2 we the taxpayer never paid for it! Anyways does the playboy mansion come to mind, does the Uighurs come 2 mind, the trips 2 the Turks islands, and martha’s vineyard come 2 mind! Where was the outrage PLPers and ALL those trips where on the taxpayer! Go get your brains fixed cuz ya really barking up the wrong tree! Jetgate THAT!

    • Nuf-said:- says:

Stop with the living in the past. We need to worry about this government and the running of the islands NOW. EB is history but CC is not. However it looks like he’ll soon be history as well at this rate. He needs to get out of the job quickly so that he can go and open a church where he can preach to the Sheep! That fella sure sounds like that preaching was his real calling.

    • Hopefulness says:

If we are holding government accountable, to suggest the PLP did it, makes it okay for the OBA is not the way to go. We should hold the OBA up to the standard of ACCOUNTABILITY that we expect of all governments. So stop using such weak statement to support or excuse the actions of this current government, they are wrong, and wrong is wrong.

  23. Coffee says:

I was really hoping that Craig wouldn’t take the bait . Anancy the spider is very clever and he has the preacher watching and praying .

    • judgment says:

stay out of our politics! you have enough in your YARD!

      • Coffee says:

        Because Dr.Heslop didn’t deliver me doesn’t mean I wasn’t born in Bermuda .

      • Triangle Drifter says:

Ah yes, with reference to that fellow with few ethics who loved to fly, either on the taxpayer dime or strong-armed private jet freebees, & it showed.

No, Coffee may not look like a dog, but behavior can be similar.

One needs a certain amount of memory around here sometimes to keep up.

        • Coffee says:

Oh and speaking of dogs and DR. Brown , Dr Grant Gibbons comes to mind and Grant reminded AYO just the other day of his (Grants) superior pedigree . And it’s a good thing Drifter, that after 4yrs Dr.Brown lives freely in you peoples collective memories(you constantly measure every bad decision made by the OBA against every perceived bad deed done by Dr.Brown and the PLP ) so thanks for that endorsement . What rankles you people the most is that Dr.Brown lives , unconsciously in your very psyche and there is absolutely no way that you could ever forget about him . He has made an indelible stain in your heart and brain … For that I am great-full , I may not agree with the things he did , But the fact that he is getting unmeasurable mileage free of charge from the likes of Drifter allows me to sleep easier .

          • LOL (original TM*) says:

So he fact that he tore the country apart on racial nonsense breeding more and more mistrust among us toward each other he is your hero? Wow just one more reason not to vote for any assocated with him. A true leader brings his people together “all the people” not just a small group possing as the majority.

  24. We had to deceive you says:

Can someone remind me who said this?

Do we have collective amnesia in this country?

    God bless Bermuda.

  25. Common Sense says:

This is a very sorry spectacle for Bermuda, but like it or not, the Premier has taken the bull by the horns and has now filed the necessary papers to have the allegations made against him heard on oath in court. To suggest that he is hiding behind lawyers is downright ludicrous because he will be subjected to rigorous cross-examination by lawyers.

If the Premier had not taken this action there are those who would believe whatever Mr. Bean and Mr. Burt have alleged, and likewise, those who would believe the Premier whatever he says or doesn’t say.

So take it to court. Let’s all hear the evidence, under oath, and let the chips fall where they may. I personally believe that the Premier should resign if he loses this case, but likewise, Mr. Bean and Mr Burt must step down if they cannot prove their allegations in court.

  26. Birdie says:

Minister Crockwell sure threw the Premier under the bus on the Sherry J Show. I wonder what that’s all about, something is definitely going on.

    • Triangle Drifter says:

Lets hope that it was a case of the mind being in gear but the clutch was slipping.

He gave Sherrie a bone that will be chewed on over & over & over & over & over…….

  27. Triangle Drifter says:

If Bean & Burt lose & do not immediately resign the PLP should immediatly expell them. Don’t hold your breath waiting for that to happen.

  28. X man says:

From here on the WAR between the OBA and the PLP will intesify to the breaking point.
There will be all types of fallout from this Lawsuit such as the opposition building up the emotions of
60% of the population for the next election but it could go the other way too and back fire on the PLP – this is going to get crazy!

  29. Ringmaster says:

Based on most such writs, remember Dr Brown was very fond of issuing the against the citizens, it is highly unlikely that anything action will be take and in a few months they will be forgotten about. Looking at the bigger picture it all about marginal votes in St George’s and St David’s. If the OBA manage to complete a new hotel in St. George’s and reopen the golf course the PLP stand little chance in an election. All this “he said she said” is electioneering. The writs are a civil matter and surprisingly require much more proof than a criminal matter. Saying under oath that it happened will not win, and which is why they rarely make it to a court hearing.

Now let’s get back to healing Bermuda.

  30. fedup Nana says:

    “Make my Day”

Wishful thinking, E. Brown is not dead, his teachings are alive and kicking via the new PLP arrival. And I know that this thought process is making some “BOIL”

  31. Balanced Facts says:

Slander is a different case and unless the Premier is prepared to say “yes I said that about Crockwell and Pettingil” (odds are not!) Mr. Bean is going to find his defence against them very difficult, ” I was told it by a third party” will not offer him a defense at all. he better get some advice from a Lawyer who knows Defamation well. Prove it or lose it!!! You have problems on this one Bean. Premier is a case of “he said he said”…The Minister and A-G are a differen case and YOU Mr. Bean have a different problem! Funny, with all those lawyers in your camp if you really told them in September about the conversation on bribes with the Premier that they never advised you then! Just saying, kinda funny…

  32. fedup Nana says:

Why the name calling “come out and show yourself” I would go there with you, but…

  33. Alvin Williams says:

Egypt-Hosni Mubarak- The people moved him out of office.
Ukraine-Viktor Yanukovich- The people moved him out of office.
Bermuda -premier -Craig Cannonier- The people?

    • Common Sense says:

I have seen some completely nonsensical comments over the years in our local media but this one takes the cake!! Alvin, please advise how many people in Bermuda have been dragged from their homes, tortured and killed? How many innocent people have been slaughtered in the street? How many opposition parties have been banned as a criminal organisation?

This is a clear case of partisan bickering gone berserk!

      • Kangoocar says:

@common sense, pay no attention to alvin, he is stuck in the 1960′s and in his mind he is still fighting the establishment?? It is a shame alvin can’t see the world has moved on ??? He now is a prisoner in his own mind, but still blames the white man for it!! He is a sick person!!!

        • Ringmaster says:

Actually give Alvin his due, the people did speak in December 2012. Not only did they move out the then Premier Paula Cox but also the PLP Party.

        • JustAskin2 says:

I would be nice for all of us to move on but the problem is the many thinly veiled racist comments one sees every time one looks at the comments of a news article.

          • LOL (original TM*) says:

Cute do you attribute them to where they are truly coming from or are you just trying cover up that fact? Crunch the numbers of “thinly veiled racist comments” and add in the straight up racist comments and you’ll see what’s up. I’m thinking that you might never admit it or your just spin like a top with BS justifications.

the truth must come out eventually in order to heal the old and the newly offended

      • ABM says:

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, how far back do you wanna go??????

    • Terry says:

Spoken like a true Black Beret first meeting goer.

  34. Looking in says:

Premier Cannonier will win this hands down, any bets?

  35. Looking in says:

Did premier Cannonier take his son to The playboy Mansion to frolic with the bunnies on our dime?

  36. Cleancut says:

“Our courts won’t be able to cope if politicians begin suing each other over alleged lies and cover ups.( the Daily Mail)

Politicians habitually accuse each other of lying, deceit, hypocrisy and covering up scandals. Usually they resort to legal action only when accused of these failings in their private lives, Dr. Brown, a case in point.

  37. James Herald says:

I wish these boys would kiss and make up – and get on with doing the people’s business. To say they are acting like children would be an insult to young people.

  38. ABM says:

IMO – no matter who wins or loses, neither will step down.

A couple of other things to:
1 – Dr. Brown is no longer party leader of the PLP, so to lay his blame on Mark Bean and the whole party is foolhearted. New leadership, and new direction.
2 – I am pretty sure that this plane ride was for the betterment of the island.
