Bermudian To Hold ‘Made In Bermuda’ Awards

May 20, 2015

The Bermudian announced a Call for Entries for their first ever Made in Bermuda Awards, which are designed to honour makers, small-business owners and creative entrepreneurs who are producing beautiful, innovative and inspiring local products.

“There are so many local artisans creating very special products in Bermuda today and we wanted to acknowledge and celebrate them, not only for the quality of the products being produced, but also for their spirit of entrepreneurship,” said Stevenson.

Announcing the awards today [May 20], publisher Tina Stevenson explained the awards are open to any Bermuda resident making a living creating and selling their product in Bermuda—including those manufactured or packaged overseas—in one of four categories: Home, Crafts, Food & Drink and Clothing & Accessories. She stressed: “Only products that were originally conceived, created and designed in Bermuda by a Bermuda resident are eligible.”

The first Made in Bermuda Awards will see candidates submit photos and a description of their product for review by a panel of judges especially chosen for expertise in their field. After judges review the submissions they will whittle down the entries to a number of finalists who then will be asked to submit their actual product for final judging.

The judges will be awarding one overall Made in Bermuda Award with a cash prize of $1,000 to go toward growing their business. There will also be division winners and several honourable mention awards. Winners will be showcased in the fall issue of The Bermudian publishing in September.

Entries are due by midnight on June 15, 2015. Details of the awards and entry forms are available on TheBermudian.com.

Why would someone click dislike? R Ray said something positive that made perfect sense …

“Made in Bermuda”, including those manufactured and packaged overseas? Made sense up to that point.

  4. MB says:

Why would they charge small businesses to enter?!!! That’s more pay to play so’ll not really a good indicator of what’s really the best. These types of contests are generally people enter you or you select, this way doesn’t make sense.

I agree….$25 to enter makes no sense at all! Why should I pay for consideration to win an award?? Ridiculous!
