Flora Duffy Wins Xterra Race In Colorado

July 18, 2015

Bermuda’s Flora Duffy took first place in the Xterra Beaver Creek Mountain Championships today [July 18], claiming the impressive victory only a week after winning a bronze medal in the triathlon at the Pan Am Games in Canada on July 11.

Duffy completed the course in two hours, 22 minutes, and 41 seconds – more than six minutes ahead of her nearest competitor.

Second place was claimed by Emma Garrard, with the athlete noting in an Instagram post that she finished behind “still freakin’ fast Miss Flora Duffy” in the event.

This is yet another accolade the two-time Olympian has earned, with Ms Duffy having a bevy of international wins including the XTERRA World Championship in 2014, and dominating the XTERRA circuit recently, winning titles in Utah, South Africa, Nevada, Australia and Alabama.

Tough race. Bottom of the mountain at Beaver must be around 10,000′ above sea level. Thin air.
