Photo Set #2: Around The Island Powerboat Race

Despite some inclement weather, the 2015 Rubis Around The Island powerboat race got underway yesterday afternoon [Aug 9] amid clearing skies, with the race’s entrants getting started at about 2.00pm from the Ferry Reach start line.

After beginning at Ferry Reach, boaters proceeded through the pylons at Coney Island, along North Shore, and around a buoy off Gibbets Island.

The first boat across the line, recording the fastest time of 43 minutes 32 seconds, was D187, with driver Steven Eversley and co-pilot Brandon Franks.
