Video: Digicel NBA Jumpstart Basketball Clinic
Bermuda’s young basketball players are being given the opportunity to train with top coaches from the NBA, with Digicel holding a press event today [Sept 10] at the Mount St Agnes gymnasium to provide an overview of its first annual NBA Jumpstart programme.
Held in association with the Bermuda Basketball Youth Federation, the clinics offered by the program are being run by NBA International Basketball Operations staff and focus on player development.
The programme also features one-day clinics in each country for local coaches, and the best athletes in each country will be selected for the intensive “Elite Camp” programme, which will be held from September 26 through 28 in Trinidad and Tobago.
The top eight players from the Elite Camp, as determined by the NBA Jump coach and legend, will also have the opportunity to attend an NBA game in the United States.
Premier Michael Dunkley and Senator Vic Ball stopped by today’s event, with the Premier welcoming the overseas coaches to the island and telling them that Bermuda has very keen athletes, while telling the young players that they have a unique opportunity to train with top coaches.
