Sunday February 21st: “Good News” Spotlight
News that luxury lifestyle magazine ‘Tatler’ featured Bermuda, Digicel and BTC donated $4,000 to the Haitian Child Dental Project, actress Catherine Zeta-Jones recommended Bermuda on social media, and Elliot Primary students teamed up with Keep Bermuda Beautiful to clean up the Devonshire area were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.
Additional good news included a group of seniors touring areas including Friswells Hill, St Monica’s Mission, and Glebe Road, James Collieson earning the iTPA’s CTPS tennis designation, the Bermuda Powerboat Association donating $1,000 to St. John Ambulance, and close to $1.5 million being granted over the past year to organisations working in the community.
In other good news, 14 overseas rugby teams will come to the island for the Ariel Re Bermuda Rugby 7s Tournament, Flora Duffy won the XTERRA South Africa Championships, Nahki Wells scored the game winning goal for Huddersfield, Somersfield Academy finished a week long football and cultural tour to Panama with a perfect 3-0 record, and John Layfield was named an ambassador of Beyond Sport.
