Bermuda Dance Academy’s 1st Dance Recital

Bermuda Dance Academy — directed by Nikia Manders — is set to hold its first dance recital “In The Movies” on June 11th, 2016 at 2pm in The Berkeley Institute Cafetorium.

“The concert will feature dances from eight classic movies such as Annie, Frozen and Hunger Games. Enjoy this afternoon of entertainment while students from the ages of three to eighteen perform choreography to music from your favorite Movie,” a spokesperson said.

Ms. Manders, Owner & Head Teacher at Bermuda Dance Academy, holds a Bachelor degree in Dance Performance and a Master of Arts in Dance Education and has performed, taught and choreographed in a variety of venues across the island and in the United States, Uganda and Trinidad.

Ms Manders said, “As the Dance Teacher and Instructional Leader at The Berkeley Institute I am so proud to be finally taking this big step and hosting my own dance recital. I feel so blessed to achieve my dreams by opening my own school and having our first recital.

“Dance is not just my career but is also my hobby; therefore, Dance is my life. I like to think of Dance as a celebration of life and every day we dance we celebrate life! It is a total honor to expose children to this art form that I truly love.

“I have always wanted to start a professional company and travel around the world; however, in Bermuda a dance school is the first steps to starting my own company. It is such a pleasure to be training dancers and building a school through my dance perspective.”

“The Bermuda Dance Academy currently offers three combination classes and next year we will include a ballet and hip hop class. We will are having a Summer Term for five weeks starting in July. Please contact us if you are interested in signing up.

“I am truly grateful for my administrator/mother Linda Manders and dance assistants Khyra Butterfield, Imani Edwards and One` Hart. They have been wonderful asset to the program and the girls will be featured throughout the show”.
