Dowling To Speak At Bermuda Convergence
ILS [Bermuda] Ltd., organisers of Bermuda Convergence 2016 announced one of the event’s two keynote speakers, with Vincent J. Dowling Jr. [pictured] set to speak at the event.
Mr. Dowling is very well known to the [re]insurance industry and widely sought after for his valuable insight and industry expertise. It is expected that delegates will flock to listen to his market perspective.
Mr. Dowling co-founded Dowling & Partners in January 1990 and currently serves as Managing Partner.
He began his career with A.J.B. Zunser and Co. in 1982 as a junior insurance stock analyst. He joined Fox-Pitt Kelton, Ltd. in 1983 and was admitted to the FPK partnership in 1986.
Mr. Dowling received his BA from Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire and his MBA from Harvard Business School, Boston, Massachusetts.

More than 300 delegates are expected to attend this year’s ILS event; last year delegates came from a total of 13 countries.
Bermuda remains the leading jurisdiction for Insurance linked securities [ILS] and catastrophe bond issuance. The Bermuda Monetary Authority [BMA] reported, as of Q1 2016, net issuance of bonds increased the total stock of outstanding capacity to $26.5 billion, an increase of 13.0% year over year. 2016 saw the highest Q1 issuance volume since 2009.
The Bermuda Stock Exchange [BSX] accounts for approximately 75% of the global market capitalization. The BSX is also home to foreign ILS listings. Current data from the BSX reported 159 securities listed with an aggregate market capitalization of approximately $19 billion.
Bermuda continues to play a key role in the global market as a leader in the issuance of catastrophe bonds, insurance-linked securities, collateralized reinsurance and alternative risk transfer.
